I just read on another forum about someone requesting Pineapple with Carmel sauce (apparently it used to be a dessert at Ohana but is not on the menu anymore, but you can request it).....being a pineapple lover it sound heavenly.

Has anyone had this? Pictures? Is the carmel sauce cloyingly sweet, or can you request it on the side (kids would probably love it, I can't imagine why you'd want to put anything on pineapple, lol).

Any details would be much appreciated!

The dessert at Ohana is bread pudding with bananas foster sauce. From everything I've read, no, you can't get pineapple with caramel sauce because they don't make it. To me, it sounds boring. Pineapple you can possibly get, but not the sauce. The bread pudding is wonderful. This is a restaurant with a fixed menu and they can make accomodations for children, such as kid friendly food, but why not try the bread pudding and get your pineapple fix somewhere else? It's certainly something you can get all over WDW as a snack.

Actually several people have reported being able to get the pineapple and carmel sauce dessert recently. I'm not a big fan of pineapple, but a good carmel sauce I'd be willing to drown in.

So maybe ConnieB, we should get together....you can have all that pineapple and I'll take the carmel sauce!

It's not on the menu, but like so many "old Disney menu items" apparently if you ask nice they'll make it up for you. I plan to ask for the carmel sauce on the bread pudding, lol.

I think it would be easy to go to the store, buy pineapple and caramel sauce, and eat it at home to your heart's content. :p

Hmm, well thanks for the suggestion, but :rotfl2: in that same vein, I could also go the grocery and get myself a steak....or a burger.....or pork loin, or shrimp....or even bread pudding at some of the gourmet groceries around here.

And have you ever tried the sauce from the store......well, I'll pass. That's why I asked about it's flavor. I've had some great ones from restaurants....and some that tasted like they bought the jarred stuff from the grocery.

Had it back in 2002. (last time we ate dinner at Ohana). It was delicious. The pineapple was perfectly ripe, and you dipped it into the caramel fondu-style. MMMMMM. I can still remember loving it. If you go, ask for it. They might not have it but it is worth a try!!!

For all you pineapple and caramel lovers out there:
Here's what we like to do: Grill pineapple spears over charcoal - not gas, real old-fashioned charcoal and then top with warmed Smuckers Caramel ice cream topping. I think you'll find it quite to your liking. :lovestruc

You would be doing yourself a real disservice if you didn't try the bread pudding. It was heavenly

Mmmm - I am going to try that!

We had the pineapple with caramel sauce a few years ago at Ohana and it was really yummy. The sauce did come on the side. I also miss the coconut bread they used to serve at dinner.

We've also had the bread pudding with bananas foster sauce & ice cream and agree with the other posters that it is wonderful and not to be missed (although a lot more filling than the pineapple).

Either way it never hurts to ask. The worst that can happen is they can say no and give you the bread pudding.

Oh my...I  :lovestruc the pineapple and caramel sauce! IT was wonderful. But the bread pudding was also outstanding!:goodvibes

I'd like to try O'hana's but am extremely allergic to bananas and wondered if I could get the pineapple instead. Does anyone know if the bread pudding actually has bananas in it or is it just the sauce they pour over it that has bananas?

We were there earlier this year and had the bread pudding. I love bread pudding and that was probably the best I have ever had. I believe the bananas are only in the banana foster sauce.

By the way, during the dinner our waiter said they could make anything we requested. We were happy with what was served but the kids were a little more picky and had to have a hamburger that they were happy to make.

Definitely more filling. My 2 sons and I had to stop after 2 full servings or risk exploding.:rotfl:

If I didn't like the other food so much, I would go straight to desert.

I have never been able to try the bread pudding because I am allergic to coconut. I wouldnt chance the bread pudding either if I had a banana allergy because it prob has been contaminated with it.

When I went in 2007 I did get pineapple with caramel sauce - but this was not offered to me this year. I did however get a Kiluea Torte for dessert thanks to the wonderful chef.

I don't think it could hurt to ask. They definitely have pineapple and caramel sauce on the premises (it's served every night in the resort's club level lounge). The caramel sauce is always served on the side, and I never found it to be overly sweet. I hope you're able to get it. :) While I LOVE the current dessert at 'Ohana, I also enjoy the pineapple with caramel sauce.

The first time that we ate at O'hanas was in 1996. I remember telling our server that we were completly stuffed and did not want the pineapple and caramel sauce. He explained to us that they had that for dessert as it was meant to soothe your stomach and not leave you feeling bloated. I remember it always worked for us.

We both always loved the pineapple with caramel sauce. After eating way too much dinner, it was refreshing & delicious, too. Hope it's still available by request when we go back to Ohana next spring!
