Pineapple Cherry Dump Cake... A Question

What is this supposed to look like when it's done baking???

Pretty much like a regular cake, only not quite as fluffy. There are also usually places where the fruit is showing just a bit through the batter.

The ones I've had always looked cobbler-ish.. I've always thought they were supposed to look that way. LOL

It is suppose to look like a cobbler and not a cake.

Cobblerish is a pretty good description. Only it generally looks a bit dryer than a normal cobbler would, which is what I was actually trying to describe in my first post. I just didn't do it very well, I guess.

I've never seen one that I would mistake for an actual cobbler though.

I will be right over to taste it for you ... you know just to make sure it is good and all bawwhwhaaa

Mine always looks kinda like a dryer version of my peachie cobbler

Here's a photo I found on the 'net.

I make it with just the canned cherries (no pineapple). We call it "Cherry Stuff" in our house.

2 cans of cherry pie filling
1 box of white cake mix
1 stick of butter

Spray bottom of glass or metal 13X9 pan with Pam. Empty both cans of cherry pie filling into the pan. Put dry cake mix on top. Melt the stick of butter and drizzle all over the top. Bake at 375 until the crust is tan and looks kind of crunchy.

That's all there is to it. It is more like a cobbler. It's sooooo good and very easy to make.

uh-oh

Mine looks kinda like a cobbler... not like a cake at all.

Mine always comes out cobbler-looking. It is fantastic! I'm making it with my preschool class this week, so we can indoctrinate a new generation into the world of Dump Cake!:thumbsup2

Everyone loved it... thanks guys :) I was really nervous cause I didn't think it looked right, but it was delish!

Oooh, thanks for the link Imzadi. This was so easy and yummy that I can't wait to try another variation!

I made a pumpkin one last week that was so good. The recipe called to invert it on a platter but I knew that would be a disaster--it was much more cobbler-like.

I can't imagine inverting my dump cake on a platter! It is very loose and cobblerish. I have been making it all summer long using pineapple and fresh blueberries. The color is horrible, but it is OHH so good!
