Is there a thread about the "pin trick"? I did a search and no luck finding anything for me.
sandgrace -
My most recent PIN code was for October, so it's not too early to get one. But DLR may run out of PIN codes for a while and not be able to offer any new October ones, so you have to be careful about that.
There's been multiple threads about the Saved Offer trick (in fact, we don't need so many threads about this trick!

), and I've explained it so many times in other threads. But I will explain it again, for anyone who doesn't have the scoop.
I am taking credit for 'discovering' this trick because, in all the discussion on this forum about how to get a PIN code offer in the past, I have never read this particular tip until I stumbled upon it last year. And now soooo many people are trying to get a PIN that some of the attempts are working and some are not. I wish there were a way to put the genie back in the bottle temporarily and get everyone to wait a bit before trying for a PIN because I have a feeling that so many PIN's have gone out that DLR ran out of rooms attached to the PIN code until the PIN's expire. But, people are hot to get that PIN, so this is what I did to get it.
This trick has worked for me two separate times - last year and this year.
My exact, step-by-step instructions are:
1.
Create a "My Disneyland" account. Not a Disney.com account. Specifically, go to the Disneyland website, look for the little icon that says
My Disneyland in the upper right section of the page, and create an account. Answer all the questions they ask you and say yes to any offers to send you newsletters, etc.
2. Stay logged into your My Disneyland account.
3. Either pull up the current advertised hotel offer on the DLR site, or go directly to the hotels section. Enter the dates of your trip and the desired hotel. The DLR system will calculate what the total due will be.
4.
Save the hotel offer! When the hotel information appears on the page, you will see a little tab at the bottom that says Save, or Save Offer or something like that. Click on Save, and the offer will automatically save to your My Disneyland account. You can even check your My Disneyland account later to be sure the offer is there and saved.
5. Leave the Saved Offer there. Don't buy anything. Don't book anything. Don't spend any money on the DLR website.
In either a few days or a few weeks, via e-mail or snail mail, you
should receive some correspondence from Disney Destinations. If it comes as an e-mail, the Subject line will say something about "Photos" of your chosen Disneyland Resort hotel, or something like that.
When you open up the e-mail, there should, hopefully, be a PIN code and rates for all three hotels towards the lower right section of the page. There will also be a "Book by" date on there. For example, if you got a PIN code for 2 weeks in November, you may be required to book the room by September 5th or something, or you lose it.
Most of the e-mail PIN codes have the $163 PPH rate, and there is a window of time in which the PIN code will apply. You MAY get a PIN code that does not apply to your trip dates. That has been happening a lot lately. So it helps if you can be flexible with when you make your trip, or else you may not be able to use the PIN code.
The snail mail PIN codes seem to have a lower rate for all 3 hotels. There's no telling if you will get an e-mail or snail mail.
You may get an e-mail that has no PIN code at all - that has also happened.
What happens is that your Saved Offer sends a message to DLR that a possible onsite guest showed interest in the hotels BUT did not pay the crazy rates the website gave you. So they want to lure you in with a better rate.
Many people have now received this PIN when they followed the steps. But lots of people have also received PIN's for times they cannot go, and other people have received nothing. The Saved Offer trick has a pretty good success rate overall, though. And this seems to be the only direct way that we know of that will most likely produce a PIN code.
Oh, and if you do not get a PIN code with the first attempt, it has been suggested to create another account with a separate e-mail address and try again, and that might do the trick.
Hope that helps!
