Pin Trading

This is something that I think my daughter would like to collect. I don't know if she would be into the "trading". I know that I read somewhere where there were different colored lanyards (just for kids to trade with other kids). I was wondering is there was a color that was for a non pin trading person?? Who knows maybe she might get into it if people come up to her, however she is very protective of her "special" things.

Pin trading is a fun and expensive hobby. To learn the ropes check out Disney's Site and you might find some ideas on what pin themes that you would like to focus on by checking out PinPics and there is a wonderful message board called Dizpins that has so much great info also attached to it. The actual trading of the pins is optional. I think most people just trade with Cast Members (at DTD I see lots of people with big pin books trading one another, but not at the parks). Cast members who wear green lanyards just trade with children. Other than that I do not know of any specfic lanyards for specfic types of trading. I don't think you have to worry about your DD being approached by anyone to trade...no one has ever approached us before.

I have read here on the Dis that a lot of kids collect a ride pin after finishing a big ride for the first time (ie. Splash Mountain) to add to thier collection. Or that they can pick one pin a day. It is an expensive hobby and you might check out e-bay and do a search for disney pin lots.

I purchased a starter lanyard and about 20 pins for DD8 for our trip in july. I told her she could only trade with CMs and she had to have me or her DGM with her. She had a blast trading with the CMs and even used some of her "mad " money to buy a few pins from rides she liked. When we got home we checked her collection and she had traded all of the pins i had gotten off Ebay for ones that she liked. I think total I spent about $50 for the initial investment and it was well worth it. The CM's were great with her and sometimes even made 2 for 1 trades with her

My kids started trading last year. I must say that we had many awesome CMs that would have my children wait a moment, disappear somewhere and come back with CM only pins for all three of my kids and would not take a pin in trade from them. They all got some great pins and were the envy of many adult traders.

My precious little daughter started trading pins several years ago. She became almost addicted to them. But recently she has cooled off the ferver some. She has mucho plenty dollars tied up in them.

My precious little daughter is only 45. She will grow out of it.
