Pin trading does still occur throughout the parks. Maybe not to the extent as a few years ago, but pin trading does still exist.

There are pin boards here and there in the parks and resorts. None on CM lanyards. The boards are staffed with a CM who will give you the pin you ask for while the pin you trade will be put aside to be sanitized.
