Pin Trading Times :(

While I'm not happy with the morning time, I think it's a good idea to move the time around so everyone gets a chance at some point so I'm glad the morning people will have their chance this month.

Sparky O_o

WV_Minnie, You could be glad to got an answer, they dont seem to like me I never got an answer (eg. : I did not get an answer about the gingerbread competition) :rolleyes1

Monday is a fine day for me =)

Oh yes I was quite thrilled to get a response.. many of my questions go unanswered also. I thought the canned response was brilliant :confused3

I too am happy to hear about the changed times. I know it is awfully selfish to say but as an adult it will be nice to maybe actually get into a host room because the kids are at school. I know that for Halloween I couldn't get into one host room for the pin trading event because I was too far back in line and so far yet I can't get any of the HM pins I've always wanted. Enough whining though...I certainly hope they later make it a time where the kids and others have a chance too as I wish they would do for every host event. ;)

grrr, i totally agree.

If its a KIDS game, why release it while kids are in school?

I think even adults have to work, thats like going to school for them.

I wish they would have a poll on the home page, asking what day of the week, or every week, which day would each host trading pin event be best.

Then, the most voted day, wins, and we would have it then. It would be fair for all, and i wouldnt be whining. Because at least us players, would have a say in this.

I'm just glad when I see "Host Trade" on any VMK calendar. If I can't get in, maybe some friends will be fortunate.

Yes, I do love this type of event. Host trade events don't seem like the easiest event to run. I can't imagine doing 200 or more trades one after the other without a break.

Hopefully negative feedback about the day and/or time won't cause VMK pass on this type of event for future calendars.

Magical pin switch trick.

Host_Hula's Room

As you can see.. the beloved pin trading events are during the day on Mondays this month. :headache:

I wrote an e-mail to Contact Us.. wondering if they "accidentally meant to have the event on Monday evening.." Here is the message I sent.

>I was looking at the events calendar.. and was disheartened to see that pin trading is on a Monday morning. This is my favorite host event :( Any chance you "accidentally" meant to put it on Monday evening instead? Thank you for your consideration. I don't know many people who don't work or have school during ALL of the pin trading event hours.

Here's the message I received from VMK_Shorty ..

Host Games are in-game events hosted by VMK Staff Members. Some games give prizes for completing special tasks. If you become disconnected or unable to complete the task for one reason or another, prizes will not be awarded to your account. Host Games are listed on the VMK Community Calendar, which is located on the VMK Homepage. Thanks and see you in VMK soon! --VMK_ShortyVMK Player Support

So.. I guess those of us at work and school will not get any lovely pins..

I don't see how the response received answers the question asked!

how in the world did all of you miss the fact that Sparky, first of all, never answers anyone with any useful information, and 2nd of all, his answer did not even relate to the question at hand. Can someone, somewhere, tell VMK that their customer service, especially from this "Sparky" person, is AWFUL. He needs to actually start READING the emails and messages he gets instead of keyword searches and auto replies.

My final thought: It is about time! there are alot of people who can only play VMK during the day, why should they be left out in the cold for host games and events? Good for VMK and Hula for finally recognizing the "night shift" working population on VMK

I don't know that generalizing the customer service by saying it is awful is the answer. I myself recently asked a question & it wasn't Sparky who replied. My question was detailed about the party hats & the fact that VMK was having issues and not allowing people to purchase them (there was some sort of issue where it showed a player not having any credits). The response I received was, please give us more information like: how long has this been happening, what is the nature of your concern, etc. LOL

So I agree, I don't feel all of the questions asked are read. I'm sure they receive TONS of e-mails with questions/concerns. Answering everything is probably time consuming, but if it is part of the job you've agreed to do, then you should do it properly and answer appropriately.

I too am an adult. I'm the adult that is watching everyone else's kids & teaching them all sorts of things throughout the day. Why should they or I (or any other working individual) be excluded from a trading event held during a weekday. In my opinion, the trading events should be continued on the weekend, but there should be a Host with another designated player/staff member/etc. handling the trades. They would go faster & more people would be able to get the desired pin.

while i am happy about the time only because i never can get in on a saturday And the fact I am moving from cali to ohio and literally the only items in my apartment right now are my clothes, laptop and a mattress, i am hoping i can get on. But i do feel for those who must work and goto school. i see both sides of the issue, and i hope they will add other pin events at more reasonable hours, i mean if :rolleyes1 it is a kids game, why hold an event during school hours?

It is after school for kids in other parts of the world - maybe they are giving them a chance.

I usually get my emails from VMK_Shorty, not Host_Sparky. These emails also never to seem to relate to the matter at hand. Very annoying yes, but the I cannot imagine the volume they do get and the novels that they have to try to read to get to the point of the complaint.

Normally when I get the "canned response", I respond back with a paste of my original and then a clarification of the issue in brief. Usually, by doing that I do get a clearer and personal response. So, just a suggestion short, precise (to the point), save your original note, and be prepared to write back again.

Also, getting back to the trade topic. I will be at work so I will miss it, but I am glad that they are offering at a time to benefit the people who miss out on the other opportunities that most of us get to benefit from. Good Luck to all.

I think it is fair to spread the time for the popular events around. I won't be able to participate in these, but I know some other players who will truly benefit from it. You can never please 100% of the people.

Why should they or I (or any other working individual) be excluded from a trading event held during a weekday.

Well, then as a ying to your yang, why should I be excluded because I have to work weekends?
I typically put in 16-20 hours days on Saturday and can never make these events. I probably wont be able to logon from work to do this event, but it is nice to see VMK target east coasters and morning people. VMK is clearly NOT just a kids game, and VMK definately acknoledges that by making it so children really cannot do many of the things in VMK (such as acquire Green car magic, heck, most of the ADULTS cant get that). Kudos to VMK for catering to their ENTIRE audience, not just those that can logon after 9pm Eastern time.

I wont be able to make it. But at least it gives some other people a chance, which is great. Hope you have fun everyone else :)

While I'm not thrilled with the time either, I think it's good it's not just another trade event on a Saturday morning. Not everyone can be in the game so early Saturday mornings; of all the trade events on those days and times, I think I've made it to one. The more they change around the times and days the better because when it's consistently on one day and one time, that automatically leaves out the same people repeatedly.

I mean, I'll have a try at this event next week and the 21st, and after that I won't get to attend another Monday HOST event until late May because I'll have work all day and class until 10pm and won't get home until after 11pm. It does stink to be left out of things as me and my wacky schedule can attest to, but I think having events on different days and times (i.e. rotating the days and times special events like trading events are held) is the best solution, IMO. Gives almost everyone a chance at some point.

I'm very happy for this change. I work most weekends, and have Mondays off this month :D

I understand and agree with what you have said. My point was (and it was not clear/expressed how it was meant, so I apologize for that), why should ANYONE be excluded at any time (although I guess there would NEVER be a way to please everyone)? I guess I kind of responded because it was mentioned that the kids are going to be at school, and that made me think of the fact that VMK was initially meant as a game for children. From the main site, "VMK may be designed for 8-14 year olds, but Disney fans of all ages will have a blast." I spend lots of time with children, and they express to me that their feelings are not viewed as important to adults. So, I guess I was speaking out for them & included those of us who were also excluded. Does that make sense?

I am happy that others are going to be able to get into a trade event. They typically do the trade events in the morning on the weekend, but if you are not in the line within the first 20 seconds of it opening, chances are, you will not get a pin. Maybe it could be switched around to several different time slots. Like it was also mentioned, there are others around the world who play, and I'm sure they would like the times to move around as well.

In truth, I was trying to offer up a solution so that more people could get into the event/receive pins. Having more than one person working on the trades would benefit lots of people.

I agree with this 100%. We have, many times, lamented over the fact that, in all honesty, very few people ever make it into one of these events. typically, within moments of the room opening up, the queue shoots up to 800+ and the host can rarely serve more than 60 people per hour, so on a game with 6-7000 people actually on at a given time, they can only play host to 120 over 2 full hours. That pretty much excludes 975 out of every 1000 people logged on.

Aye! agreed
So we go to WAR!

I'm going to have to try to log in at work and hope i don't get caught, lol.

Don't you dare!!! I am so going to be watching you!!

I for one am HAPPY it's during day hours on a weekday. I missed every trading event last time because they were held on a weeknight (Thursday, I think). There are some of us that can't get on in the evenings.

It's my turn now :goodvibes
