I am wanted to get my DS 9 started with Pin trading. does anyone here have any suggestions on how to get started??

I would start by purchasing a lanyard. Then go to MousePinsOnline or PinCastle, two different websites that sell pins in sets. They are random and you don't have the choice of which ones will be in the lot, but there may be a few that are keepers and some to trade! Be careful on Ebay when buying lots, if they say they are Sedesma pins, don't purchase. They are smaller pins and of lesser quality. A good resource for pin trading information is www.disney.go.com/eventservices/whatispintrading. Other resources and information can be found by doing a search on google "Disney Pin Trading". That should get you started!:)

Take a look at www.mousepinsonline. They're running a special now-- $1.75 per pin. They have the Disney stamp on the back and the quality is fine. The guy who runs the site is incredibly nice to talk to as well.

I saw lanyards with 2 pins at the disney store friday for under $20 plus it was 40% off the clearance price. They were cute and I am going to the mall today or tmrw. let me know if you want it :)

We had never traded pins before, but last Spring I purchased some Disney Pins off ebay. A lot of about a dozen for about $15. They were authentic Disney Pins in a mixed lot, with the mickey shaped pin backs, but with mostly characters that I knew that my then 8 year old son may not want to keep, but would certainly enjoy trading. Some he did choose to keep. I also purchased some Mickey and Star Tours and the like that I knew that he would definitely want. Each night of our 12 night trip my son got a pin or two from the "pin fairies". It was honestly like having Christmas every morning!!! He also was lucky enough to be given two pins by wonderful CM's and he also purchased a few on his own. When we returned home we had too many pins for one lanyard. When we return this year, I will have to purchase a new lanyard. He is now 9 and looking forward to a nightly visit from the "pin fairies". Hope this helps.

My son also ran out of room on his lanyard. He has some "tradable" pins and some special pins that are collectable and that he got for "mastering" rides and such. My husband took a corkboard message thingy, framed it and painted it black. Now when we return from a trip my son takes the "collectable" pins that he wants to keep and pins them on this display board that hangs on his wall. It is really cool looking:banana:

To the OP -- I suggest checking out the Disney Collectors Board on the Disboards. There are lots of pin trading experts there!

Thanks for the offer I did not see this in time or I woul dhave taken you up on it! Actually I heard we have a Disney store in our mall now so I will head up there and check. Thanks again!

Jennipooh - Those are wonderful ideas.. I will have a pin fariy I think! My DS 5 might have to get into this too! He does not care about things like this typically but I might go ahead and get him started even if I am the one that ends up trading and stuff. :)

Love the corkboard idea!!!

Good idea on checking the collectors board!!! thanks nyyankeegirl!!
