approximately how many pins fit on a lanyard? i realize that this depends on how far apart you space them, how big the pins are, etc. but--best guess-if they are spaced pretty close together--how many on a lanyard?

this would be on a lanyard for a kid (although i think they're all the same size, aren't they?).

thanks!

It really depends on the child. We put about 10-12 on my DD's lanyard during our first trip when she was 4 1/2. By the end of the week, we dropped it down to 7 or 8--by the end of the day, it was getting heavy on her neck and it bothered her. The next trip she was 8 and kept 10-15 on her lanyard the entire time.

My daughter has 14 on the one she takes to the park. She doesn't wear it though. It's not really a comfortable thing to wear. She just takes it out when she wants to trade.

She also has a few she leaves at home, they have 18 each.

Not all lanyards are the same length.

We generally get the longer ones and even I can't wear mine with more than about 8 or 9 pins on it. It just gets too heavy for me & really bothers the back of my neck.

My DD has a backpack for her pins since she has so many. But she does wear her lanyard with the few she wants to trade that day to the parks. But, if it is a hot day, she just drops it in the backpack because it will bother your neck. I wouldn't put too many on it and be prepared to have to carry it in something else. But you guys will love pin trading! :yay:

Where can I buy a child size lanyard? All I see are adult sizes. Are they available at the parks/DTD? The adult lanyard I have look ridiculous on my 5 year old. :p

this is exactly what i was thinking of. my kids don't like to wear jewelry. they're the only kids at school that don't wear silly bandz, despite having 1000, because they don't like the way they feel on their wrists. i've been looking on the boards for suggestions--hip lanyards, pouches, backpacks, fanny backs, books--any thoughts on these?

You will find them (lanyards of various lengths) in any park or resort gift shop. DTD as well.

I ordered a pouch off of etsy. My DD & DS will use the bag/pouch part for their autograph book and will put their pins on the lanyard/strap. I plan on just hanging them on the stroller when they are not trading.

what is the seller name on etsy if you don't mind me asking?

We are going for our first trip and since I am not sure how my kids are going to like the pin trading and lanyards I just purchased a lanyard for .99 at Party City. They are disney (mickey, toy story, princess ,etc).

We then just bought a starter pin set on Ebay for them to divide and go from there.
