We have a trip booked in September. My husband, myself and my sister in law are going September 22nd-30th and my in laws are joining us from the 25th through the 30th.
My husband and I want to pin trade but feel kind of awkward about it. Is it more just for little kids ? Or is it still fun for an early 20s adult couple?

My wife and I both trade pins, although we do have kids with us. We enjoy it, its a great chance to chat with cast members. Enjoy yourself, its Disney :-)

I enjoyed trading pins last summer, and we don't have children with us.

It lead to some great conversations with CMs. My favourite was at Market Co-Op, where the CM who sold me had an Yzma pin (Emperor's New Groove is one of my favourite films) and I asked to trade it. She was impressed I knew who Yzma was and we had a chat about how great the film is and how underrated it is! :)

My best friend and I look forward to this every trip! It is so much fun for us, and we are "29" and holding!

I do it every trip and I'm 48! My kids are totally over it but I still love it. Nice way to chat w/CMs and I really like finding cute pins.

Don't worry one bit about pin trading! I am an adult and I love to pin trade. When I was a cast member, I loved pin trading with anyone. In fact, I preferred trading with adults because adults could usually make up their mind very quickly about whether or not they wanted to trade. Happy trading! If you're staying on property, definitely check out the pin board or binder at your resort.

Yes, it is still fun for adults! If you go to Guest Relations in any of the parks, ask to see the pin book. There usually isn't anything good, but it's worth a shot!

This past year we took our first trip and I enjoyed the pin trading, whether it be with cast members or the board at the resort. I'm already looking at what I want to look for this year. I would recommend it for anyone going to Disney.

Some CM's have green lanyards. That means they will only trade with kids. The fact that they specifically set something up for kids should tell you it's perfectly fine for adults to trade pins to any other CM.

Exactly. Just don't ask to trade if the pins are on a green cloth or green lanyard and you're set. Usually I see more adults trading than kids btw.

DD and I are both adults (she has been 15, 17 and 18 on our trips, and will be 21 on our next one) and we pin trade like crazy.

My sister and I are in our 20s and love trading. Never had a CM seem upset by it...many end up chatting with us for a while!

As per a cast member last trip, they don't care if adults trade with green anymore, but as per usual, YMMV

I've never actually pin traded and wanted to get some of the trading only pins, are their certain tiers of pins for trading? or just any pin for any pin the cm has?

I once had a CM talk me INTO pin trading. My son (about 12 at the time) stopped to trade pins with the CM in a gift shop so I paused to wait a few feet away near the door. Another CM saw me watching him and waiting and approached me saying "You don't want to trade?". I told her I didn't pin trade, but loved my son doing it because it helped him come out of his shell. We chatted for about 10 mins about all kinds of stuff (she was retired and working at Disney for fun which has always been a dream of mine for when we reach retirement age) while he had a great conversation with the shop CM. When we finally got ready to leave, the CM I had been talking to pulled a pin out of her pocket (she wasn't wearing a lanyard). She gave it to me, practically forcing it on me when I declined. She said she always kept one pin on her for someone special. She said "This is your first official pin trade...you gave me a fun conversation and made my day special and I am giving you this pin. You aren't allowed to keep it. You have to go and trade to someone else the next time your son trades." I didn't think to commit her name to memory, but my husband and I have dubbed her the "pin crack dealer". LOL I traded that pin as she requested for a great Tigger pin. And less than 2 hours later bought a pin starter set so I could trade for more Tiggers. :D And an hour after THAT, my husband bought one. We have dedicated the bulk of our souvenir money for the last 3 trips for pins (eh, only so many stuffed mickey's you need anyway!) and have a large shadowbox on the wall for our collection. :D

So OP, trade away! We've had some terrific conversations with all sorts of people from all over the world because of pin trading.

me and my wife are 25,27yo and we pin trade and have fun doing so!
all the cast members you get to meet are awesome

plus ive met alot of other people not just kids pin trading. especially at some of the meets.
as your walking around you will see tables at some of the parks like epcot near the pin trading cart, you will usually find traders there somtimes the diehard collectors also!
