On our last trip my dd was 11yo and was able to trade with any cast member. Now she is 13yo and I am wondering what the rules are for her now. Is she only allowed to trade with cast members with a certain color lanyard, are the cast members allowed to tell her no. Is there a site I can read up on for her with the rules. Thanks!

bumping......

I would like to know this too.......my DD was 4 when where there and it was easy for her to trade with the CM's but I am wondering as she gets older what the rules are and I think my DH would like to start trading as well.

Would like to know any pin trading rules...a 3 year old and 10 year old first timers are getting excited about pin trading....

I'm certainly no expert, but my children have been trading since about age 10 and are now 24, 22, 18, & 17. We've noticed no difference in the way they trade with CM's. I do remember certain lanyard colors for young children to approach the CM's, but DK's look at all CM's lanyards and have never been told that they could not trade nor have they been made to feel like they were doing something wrong. I wouldn't worry about it. I'm certain a CM would tell you kindly if they are unable to make a trade because of age. Someone else may have more insight into the actual "rules".

CM's are required to trade with anyone of any age regardless. Tip : Buy pins from ebay or disney store before you go looking for discounts and good deals some of the pins at WDW can get pretty pricey. Trade for ones you like with the discount ones you have no attachment to or meaning to you. We were given this tip at Disney after spend $$$ on pins that our kids then later traded.

That is a good question - I know that the CM's with the black lanyard and the clip on the pocket lanyard will trade with any guest but they can't accept a double in trade. So your dd is fine with 99% of the CM's.

The green lanyards are for "kids only" and although my dd's at 9 and 11 had no trouble trading with CM's with the green ones last week, my oldest will be 12 next trip so I was also wondering what the cut off is.

Hopefull someone will post the answer and I am going to read the trading board here as well so I will post back if I find an answer.

FWIW - and mini rant on/
At 11 my dd was full price into the parks, (yikes). She also did pretty well with ordering off the adult menu, it wasn't just the price that was bothersome but the waste as she is a great eater but not a big eater. However if she can't trade with the CM green lanyards that will dissapoint her! mini rant off\

the CM with the green lanyards only trade with people 12 and younger.

other than that, a cast member must trade with you

Thank you very much!!

I just ordered a bunch of trading pins for my dd's for Christmas and was wondering about the green lanyards. My oldest just turned 12 and she loves to pin trade so we look for the green lanyards. They they often have decent pins left even later in the day.
