All the CM's that had lanyards were friendly, mostly. However, quite a bit wanted to pick their own pins, one even threw a fit because I gave her a small one and told me that I needed to give her my big one. Basically, either have 2 lanyards( one for trade and 1 for show) or do not wear the ones that you like. I ended up putting my traders on the back of my lanyard, and the ones I like on the front of my lanyard to make it easy. My husband just carried a little trader bag thing and used those ones.
Other CM's did not care. We had great luck at our hotel, as one CM loved Stitch and my husband collects all stitch. They traded pins from her personal collection because she loved one of my husbands so much.
Ooh! My husband collects Stitch pins- which hotel were you in?? Thanks
Most of the stores have a good selection. The pins must have a Mickey head back, and cannot be bent in any way. They also check for the "fake" pins. Not exactly sure how though. We always carry a magnet with us, most fake pins will stick to the magnet, real pins will not.
I only take pins that I want to trade, the ones I want to keep come home with me and go on display on our wall
I also seen the trading pin board at the world of Disney store in the village
Ooh! Great tip about the magnet - thanks!![]()
The magnet story keeps making its rounds, but that theory has been proven untrue repeatedly already.
Whats the best way of spotting scrappers Vala??? I'm new to the world of trading; so any tips or guidance greatly appreciated.![]()
Pay attention. I know, that helps a lot, does it?
Often the colors are off. For the real bad ones yellow with a greenish tint was a dead giveaway. Rough edges. Also the Mickey heads not going to the edge used to be a hint. But the new generation of scrappers often doesn't have that problem anymore while genuine pins show it now. Weight sometimes helps, scrappers are often too light.
Most of the tell tale signs trickle away unfortunately. You can't even go by bad coloring, damage etc. anymore because for a lot of genuine pin releases lately quality control seems to have been asleep!
