Pin Starter set

Where can I find pin starter sets?

I got mine at the gift shop at swan and dolphin, but they are sold in Downtown disney and AKL and most other gift shops.

We got DD right out side POP last year while waiting for the bus first thing in the AM .They had carts set up but I believe they were only there in the AM

Anyone know how much they are? How many pins does the starter set come with? Does it come with a lanyard? Sorry for all of the questions. I am interested in starting a collection. Thanks in advance for the input.

I think they come with 5 or 6 pins and are around $40.

Lanyard & 4 pins ( 2 are duplicates to trade. ) $24 last year so it may have gone up

Do the kids really get a kick out of trading these? I have a DD5 and last year she didn't really notice them but I personally think it's a really cute idea. Do you think a 5 year old girl would enjoy trading????

When and who can you trade with?

kids and adults love them, always trade with cm's only. Be careful of the people with the big black books--I have had them google over DD pins and mine--walk away. We have some CM lanyards and DVC members only pins and they are now displayed in our home. The summer that we did get them--OMG--could not even enjoy wearing them--learned very quickly how to avoid that scenario

My girls LOVE trading. And I only allow them to trade with CMs though they do sometimes want to trade with little kids. Still won't let them. Last year my oldest traded with a little girl and she traded a Lanyard pin. Last time for that....now only CMs. Alot of the CMs will even tell you if one of my girls wanted to trade a Lanyard pin so I knew which ones to take off and hold onto. This year we got alot! If the girls were looking for a specific pin or mentioned Lanyard pins, some of the CMs woud show which ones if any on theirs were lanyard pins and one at Movies gift shop even took a couple brand new in the plastic still out of his pocket and said he saved them for very special trades and traded it with my oldest. They also got a few freebies too. They wanted to trade with a couple CMs (white shirts) and one of them gave them each a tinkerbell pin telling them that Mickey told him to trade it with the cutest girls he sees. LOL

Pin trading for kids is one of the best things Disney thought up! It really gets them excited to interact with CMs and allows the CM to talk to guests. We learned alot of tricks and secrets about Space Mountain from a CM when the girls did a trade with her. I guess I enjoy it too because they get so much enjoyment out of it.

We will definitely be buying more pins next trip to take with us. Perhaps we'll even double our order since the girls ran out of tradable pins pretty quick. My one daughter is looking for the Pumba Safety Collection. She found 8 of them last trip. 4 more to go!

Oh, back onto the original topic...they sell starter sets all over the parks and resorts. There were the regular starter sets (four pins I believe) and then the deluxe starters which had 10 pins? Not exactly sure if it was 10 or 8. Plus they sell longer lanyards, the clips you can put on the bottom of the lanyards...everything. My girls couldn't pass a pin cart without stopping.

Is there a site with pin trading info?? The Easter Bunny is putting some pins in my sons basket this year and I am really confused what everyone is talking about with Lanyard Pins, etc. I am really looking forward to this and need all the help I can find.

Also, what kind of lanyards do you recommend? For starters, I was snooping around on Ebay and saw 2 different kinds..one wider kind and one that is really thin with a character hanging on the bottom.

Any and all info is appreciated.

I'm a bit interested in this as well; what exactly is a "Lanyard Pin" that makes it different from other pins? I think my daughter and I may start a pin collection for her when we get there

My son (13) really got into the pin trading last year. He spent most of his money on pins. I only let him trade with CMs, they have awsome pins.
