Pin question

On my trip to WDW in 2004, I started a small pin collection thanks to my friend who bought me the lanyard which I then felt obligated to decorate with numerous pins. I hated wearing the lanyard though. It was stiff and kind of uncomfortable and cumbersome. Fast forward to 2005 . . . I went to WDW with just the kids and decided to limit myself to one or two pins per trip and not to wear the lanyard. I started putting the pins on my backpack but then one fell off and I got nervous. I did find it but was worried about losing them (especially the one with Mickey and Walt - that thing was like $14). My question is how can I keep them securely on my backpack without worrying that they are going to fall off? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Buy the steel pin backs. They lock to the pin, and you have to take a small "wrench" to get it off. Although they are expensive ($7 for a pack of 10) they work very very well!!

If you are not going to trade them, the stores sell little locking backs for the pins. I put them on all of DS's pins when we got back so that he couldn't take the pins off of the lanyards until we go back next year when I will switch back to the regular pin backs.
