Pin on the AirPlane?

We have always carried our lanyards and pins in our carry on bags and never had a problem.

When we flew out of Dulles (Before moving) Judy and I got to know one of the Security Supervisors very well. Every time we went Judy's carryon would set off alarms.

When we went out to California in early September 2001 just for the fun of it we put her carryon onto a scale at the airline. This was a Samsonite rolling hard side carryon; it weighed 35 pounds and had at least 500 pins in it.

Our first trip after September 11 was Columbus Day Weekend. The person looking at the X-Ray thought he had hit a jackpot. With all the pins we asked to have the bag searched in a non-public area.

Since we were travelling every two or three months, and Judy was a fanatical pin trader, we always had lots of pins with us. It got so we would warn the screener, and then we would be taken to a small room where a screener would go through the case while we chatted with the supervisor; then after everything was deemed OK I would repack the bag.

I do it all the time...no problems. I fly regularly down to Orlando from Dulles, VA (6-7 times a year) and carry on my lanyard, traders, and any pins I purchase in the parks. I don't trust baggage handlers (sorry if that offends anyone).

Flew in June with DS's 20 pins and DD's 20 pins in their carry-ons both ways without a problem.:thumbsup2

I have flown with a lanyard full every year in my carry on from FL and CA both no problem. If you can take a pointed metal sissor under 4" on board in your carryon (according to the TSA website last week) I don't see why you couldn't take a pack of disney pins but it is the government - stranger things have happened :-)

We've never had a problem with pins. I did, however, have a security agent try to argue me down about a fake gun from POTC. You know, the ones with the neon orange cap on the barrel that have the sticker that says "THIS IS A TOY". I even had the receipt taped to it. I asked to see her supervisor, who then proceed to tell the agent, in a loud voice in front of everybody, that she really needs to study the Disney toy chart on her breaks. Hmmm...I didn't know they had those but I guess with the number of souveiners coming through they have to have something for identification.

I flew two weeks ago and wore them on the airplane.............no problems.
