I know most people who are going to receive the special PIN# discount offers for the three DLR hotels between August - December 18 have already received them, but just in case you were still undecided as to whether or not to use the discount, I would say do it now! Don't wait! Last week, when I called, there were still plenty of rooms available for September and October, but August, November and December were rapidly booking up. I waited longer than I should have to call, but finally did today. The only weekend available at PPH for the discount rate was October 3 - 5, which was not my first choice but I had to go with it. If the weekend I want opens up, they will switch me. Otherwise, it was a concierge room OR go with a higher rate at one of the other two hotels. They are not even giving 7-day courtesy holds on rooms now. They want the deposit for the first night plus tax up front, not within seven days. Whatever they were doing last week doesn't seem to apply now. Then again, as we know, one Disney CM will tell you one thing and another one will tell you something different! In any case, they told me that the weekdays were booking up super fast too. What would normally be their 'off-peak season' in late September - mid-October is now going to be much busier than usual. I have a feeling that the GCH is all booked at those rates too. As expensive as it is, those discounts are too good to pass up considering the regular price.

Oh, and they did NOT give me any trouble in Reservations about the fact that my PIN discount offer had my friend's name on it, even though it was sent to my address. I expected them to gripe but they accepted it right away. They seemed to be more concerned about the address on file than with the name. I guess they have realized that they made the same mistake with other people that they made with me - putting one name on the offer and sending it to a totally different person's address!

I really hope this won't make a huge difference in crowd levels during my stay. I also hope the DLH won't be ridiculously crowded as a result of the offer. In the past, the PPH where we always stay, has never been crowded at all. We plan on spending some time at the hotel and pool.

I hope so too. Even though I was thrilled to get the discount (because without it, I would be paying almost $200 more for the same PPH room at the same time of year), it did worry me that this will drive up the crowds during an ordinarily pleasant time of year! I already plan for crowds in December, but early October is 'off-peak'! I suspect that Disneyland will now be sending out these nifty discounts to people next year as well, now that they see how many responses they have gotten. I stayed at PPH last year in late September, there was hardly anyone there in the hotel, and we sailed right on a bunch of rides in the parks with no wait at all - of course, this was also largely due to the fact that it had been pouring rain off and on - and we checked into the hotel early because our room was ready early. Now, I have a hunch our room will not be available until regular check-in time AND the crowds will be thicker. Plus, if a room opens up on the weekend my friend initially wanted (October 10-12), which is a holiday weekend (Columbus Day and also Yom Kippur) and we switch to that, we will REALLY be dealing with crowds. Right now, I am booked for Oct. 3-5, and I was LUCKY to get that. I have a feeling that if I had waited another day, I wouldn't have gotten that room.

I love the DLH too, and was toying with the idea of staying there, but I think, because people really would prefer to stay at DLH or GCH instead of the PPH, the DLH is likely booked on all weekends with that discount. I could be wrong, but I just think that people see PPH as being the most economical hotel to begin with, and if that one is booked, then certainly the two hotels that people really want the price break on are going to be full soon, if not already. GCH might be a little too expensive, even with the discount, and the PPH is very basic and ordinary, so people might zero right in on DLH!

So much for the 'off-peak season,' huh?
