So, I've read this in a few different threads here lately and I guess I have a question...

If I receive a PIN code in my email or through regular mail to MY address, but it is not in my name, can I use it or not?

I constantly get codes for my mother (or at least under my maiden name) in my email and for my sister (under her married name) at my home address. I swear I read somewhere on these boards that as long as the PIN comes to you (regardless of name - if the address matches), you could use it...but maybe that is just wishful thinking on my part.

Any thoughts??

I believe it is wishful thinking, but..........

I believe the person's name it is under has to be in the booking party, BUt, I just received a AP Pin email that was in my ex-husband's name. He's never had an AP or ever been associated with the email address the Pin Code was emailed to. They gave me the discount since they could pull up my AP information in the system.

This happened to me about a month ago. I sent an e-mail explaining the situation (to Disney Destination, from the main WDW page contact link). They wrote back a few days later, asking for a few more details, than they fixed everything. I was able to go back to the PIN site and enter my real name and it worked! About a week later, i also received a call from someone working at Disney travel and he offered to try and get me the same deal as the PIN I received since there was a mistake with the initial e-mail.

Try to write, it could work!

I called yesterday to find out if maybe I had the mysterious March 1 PIN attached to my name (nope, boo) and mentioned that I frequently receive offers in my MIL's name to our house. She's never lived with us & never been to WDW.

They looked it up & were able to find her (with the 35/40% PIN attached) and "added me to her family" so that I can use any offers we receive in her name.

Good to know! In theory my mom and sister are already part of my family (even at Disney) - we took a vacation all together in 2005, but the reservations were all under my parents...I have always assumed that is how they got my sister's name.

I suppose if I get another one it's worth a shot to call and check it out!

Last time I booked our reservations under my name, but used a pin code my mother had received at her house. As long as they are a registered member of your traveling party they told me it would be able to be applied. That's why they ask for the name and address of every person who you are traveling with. It was very easy to do and they gave me no problem at all. Hope it works for some of the rest - sending pixie dust your way :wizard:

This happened to me last year! I finally was sent a pin code in the mail....in my best friend's name! I was so surprised since it was my home address and when DBFF and I go to WDW, I'm the one who makes all the plans! My mum and I had a trip in the planning stages so I just called Disney and explained our situation. Initially they asked if my friend would be coming on the trip and I said no, and then when they realized that my name was also attached to the address, they let me use the pin code!

That's the first and last pin I've ever gotten so that is my only experience doing that. I think it was around the end of January last year too so I don't know if their policies may have changed since. Hope this helps!:thumbsup2

I always get emails with discounts in my son's name. I used one once by calling and they told me as long as I live in the same household we were fine. Good Luck!!

I have NEVER received a pin code. Then I booked the Free Dining in May. One room for DH and I and one room for DS, 20 and DD, 22. Guess what DS gets a pin code in the mail for dates through Sept. I could have screamed. We could use it but the dates we are looking at are in October so we have to wait. I think Disney knows I am coming back regardless so they don't offer me anything.

Does anyone expect Disney Information Technology to get anything right...

Websites which crash or require obsolete versions of IE etc, etc, OUCH!

I emailed them since I have now received 2 email pins to my friends family. She and I travel to Disney alot and I do most of the planning although we use HER dvc points.

They emailed me back asking for my and her complete names, address, telephone numbers and say they will fix it......I didnt think to ask if i could use the Pins being sent to my email with her name.....I always assumed you could not.

Hopefully it will get fixed and I will get a pin soon ... lol

Don't get your hopes up! They always say they'll fix it, but I swear, once it's in their system, it always still finds a way of getting to you again!

If you don't mind me asking, what email address did you use? I'm having the same problem as I keep getting PINs under my BFF's husband's name!:confused3
