pin codes, packages and other questions from a newbie.

newbie alert. havent been to wdw in 13 years and I am typing this on my PDA so hopefully I will ask my question clearly. pls forgive typos. have two rooms ressewrved at ASMU from 8/21 for 7 nights. going with dh dd4 and ds7 and celebrating the kids bdays there. in the 2nd rm my mother and father.
our room rate is 69 right now havent purchased tickets or ddp yet but that is or plan eventually. first question is when is the latest I can add this to my ressie and make it a package. part of this question is also whether i can actually make it a package when i have a disc rm rate. (I have all my ADRs since from lurking on the boards it is clear the utmost impotance of doing that specially during free dinind period which btw I missed by just a couple of days . ) third question is do you think I will get a bouncebak free dining offer for next year or not?
also last night i got one of those emails with a pin code offering a 59 room rate at selected value resorts. can I apply that to my existing ressie or do i make a new one and cxl the old one? since just i got the email i would have to have the two rooms nder my name so both have the same rate? my parents rm is in their name but they did not receive this new offer.
i must share too that this is our first vacation as a family since 2000 pre-kids and we are soooooooooooooooooooo excited. we are going to enjoy ourselves and plan to take a leisurely approach to the trip meaning we know the kids specially dd will not get to go in many rides because of height (they are on the shorter side like ME) but we are very likely to return regularly afterwards sat once a year therefore there is no rush.
has any of you driven from northern VA? it is supposed to be an up to 13 ours drive not conting stops. we plan to leave extremely early around 2 or 3 am to try and arrive late on the 21 thinking we will just have dinner and go to bed. is this crazy or doable? well I lost track of how many questions I asked, but again, feel free to answer (or not) and add ant infornation and tips I may not be thinking about. your help will be EXTREMELY appreciated. and btw I am soooo hoooooked on this board my dh says he has lost me (half jokingly i think) it is addictive! there should be a warning in the home page.

One answer you can make it a package as soon as you can but I know Disney will allow adding on after 45 days if you booked a package but it sound as if you book a room only??? The pin, call & ask you should be able to book two rooms under that pin number. Only way to find out is to call. But it sounds doable. When we go we always book a package don't know why but just do

I believe you can change it to a package up to 72 hrs before check-in.

As for the PIN, just call CRO and ask.

And, for travelling from Virginia - you have a big part of your trip out of the way - Washington D.C. - lucky you! We drove from Baltimore area to Atlanta a few years ago when the boys were 10 and 5. It was about 14 hrs due to the stops we made to let the kids run around. A DVD player was wonderful and kept them occupied. When we drove to Orlando 2 yrs ago, we broke the trip up into 2 days cause that is supposed to be 16 hrs, but, we drove 11 hrs on the first day. Again, they did wonderful. Plan on plenty of potty stops and just have some surprise packages for them along the way once they wake up. Put them bed the night before in comfortable clothes so all you have to do in the middle of the night is carry them out to the car and they fall right back to sleep. Will make the trip much faster for them.

You can change to a package outside of 48 hours but can only add dining up until 72 hours from arrival. Your room only will be canceled and the payment refunded and the package will have to be payed in full.

Thanks a bunch for all your reponses! tiger4me2, I have not been able to reply to your PM because until I have 10 posts under my belt I cannot send a PM to anybody other than board staff (dont worry I am sure I will achieve that status soon! but yes, we do live very near one another.

I called and changed my reservation to the lower rate, got my parents room under that rate too. and told me what the previous poster said, that I have to add the package stuff no later than 3 days prior to arrival. and that I have to pay in full at the time, etc.

Thanks for the pointers on the road trip, it is a relief to hear from somebody that it can be done! I have many other questions but I am just trying to make sure I ask them on the appropriate boards.
