Pin Code Coincidence?

Had an idea tonight. My MIL has decided to go with us in August to Disney. She hasn't had a reservation in her name in 5 years. Of course, my wife and I go every year, and have never had a pin code. I called out of curiosity to see if my MIL did. What a shock - She does. Of course, it doesn't start until the date we check out, so it's useless, but what a surprise.

Uh-huh.....It's all random.

How do you get them to check, everytime I bring up looking up a PIN they say I need to give it to them

Absolutely could be a coincidence. I went in Jan 08, October 08 and Jan 09 and got a PIN code in February 09 for use in the fall. It may or may not be random, but your experience doesn't really prove anything.

I'd say if you took a poll on the DIS of those that got codes versus those that didn't, the ones that get them, have usually not been in some time.

Don't get me wrong - I get it. I don't like it or necessarilly agree with it, but I get it. Why give a discount to someone they know will come regardless? I just find it funny that Disney claims it's random, when the majority of evidence points to the contrary.

We went twice last year and I got 2 earlier this year. I got the 40% off of room and I also got the kids stay, play and dine free. I used the 40% to book the Contemporary MK View the week before Christmas.

We went 4 times last year and DH and I both got a free dining pin and a 40% discount pin earlier this year.

Guess I'm just unlucky. I'm on every Disney email/mailing list I know of, and have never seen anything.:confused3

I have never gotten a pin but know many that do and they continually get them. They do travel more than us and a couple of them are DVC owners. We had travel dates exactly the same and they get pins and we don't.

You are right:rolleyes1the majority of evidence points to the contrary in my book:confused:

Me too and I think it's weird. I will get postcards occasionally, addressed to my mom or a friend (people whose names have been on my WDW reservations in the past) at MY home address. Never addressed to me  I get emails from Disney but have never gotten one with a PIN or anything like that at all.
We live in SC, are Annual Passholders, go 2-6 times per year, always book Room Only and always stay at a Deluxe resort... :surfweb: When I read about the 40% PINS, I just salivate. I could do some serious damage with that!
