Pin badges - hand luggage?

Hello all

Last time I went I had a few but not that many. This time Im taking 200+ traders with me some of which are valuable and rare. Do you know if its ok to have them in hand luggage as im loathe to leave them in my checked in bag.

No one has ever reported any problems taking Pins on board as hand luggage.

I was worrying like you on our last trip and decided to put them in my suitcase and get them out when I arrived. Couldn't bear the thought of them being taken off me at the airport as dangerous weapons.

After stressing and not taking my DD's pins and lanyards on previous trips as we only take hand luggage, I asked that very question on this forum before our trip in October. An experienced pin trader told me he only ever carries his pins in his hand luggage, wouldn't dream of putting them in hold luggage as they are too valuable .
So thats what we did in October, flew from Luton and back from CDG, no problems at all with the pins and lanyard in one of the clear resealable bags. Because the backs of the pins are so short, they do not count as having a point or blade long enough to be classed as a weapon. You can usually find this info on your airport security's website.

i asked the last time i flew and i was told it was no problem to carry them in your hand luggage

I had some in my hand luggage coming home from Florida last year when I got searched but no comment was made, even thought the pins were seen. I don't think the pointy bit of the pin is long enough to warrant them to worry.

Actually, when I think about it every till receipt from WDW states on the reverse not to pack snowglobes in hand luggage because of the liquid in them. If there was a problem with pins being in hand luggage I'm sure they would be included in the warning.
