Pills

I'm trying to get a hold of the law....
The person I know got pulled over in FL and had their narcotic pain meds in something other than the prescription pill bottle. They had to make a trip to the police station. Once they got proper paperwork faxed from the Dr's office/pharmacy that they did in fact have a legit script for those meds they were let go.
But IMO any time you are dealing with narcotic pain meds it is MUCH better to be safe than sorry!!! Keep them in the original bottle to prove who they were prescribed to! Esp if you take them long term....
Also off topic....but taking them and driving is also considered driving under the influence in many states.

Absolutely dui if you take them and drive!!! This wasn't the case though. Yep, you should always keep that stuff in the original pill bottle, with your name and the doctor's name on it....just in case.

There was one trip to WDW, in early winter. I was at the end of a miserable head cold. Actually considered cancelling the trip but I felt better the day before we were to fly. I had more drugs in my carryon bag than a lot of stores have on their shelves. I was prepared for every contingency!!! Cough meds, sinus stuff, decongestants, ibu, etc. I must have had at least 8 bottles/boxes of stuff. No one said a word or raised an eyebrow. One TSA guy did tell me that he hoped I felt better soon!!
I don't think any of them particularly care what kind of pills you are bringing with you. They are not equipped to recognize most of the drugs out there.

Well, goofy4tink....
I guess for some (and I don't mean this rudely although it may be interpreted that way) this is a case where common sense should rule. And you and I agree that it is better to be safe than sorry and have any 'serious' or 'controlled' scripts in original containers. I guess, if or when there's ever an issue or problem, we will be less likely to be inconvenienced. I always say 'err on the side of caution on issues such as this.' :)

Common sense at Airport Security Screening checkpoints?

Well actually I have flown12 times this year alone and have had no problems with TSA. They have been nothing less than polite and helpful towards me with my disability with one very minor exception. Now I am always saying please and thank you and courteous towards them. But I believe you get what you give! I was rather surprised one trip though when I arrived in Orlando and realized I forgot to remove my pepper spray (and it is the GOOD stuff!) from my car keys!! It was it my carry on stuff and no one caught that at my home airport...a tad scary, but we are all human. :)

Good stuff? More than 2% CN/CS? So do you think polite "bad guys" have a better shot at getting bad stuff on aircraft? ;)

Good to hear your experience with Airport Security Screeners is better than mine has been.

You just LOVE to pick at everyone's posts don't you??!!
What I meant was it was the super strong kind. It was given to me by a friend who is a police officer and he said it is stronger than what the average person would be able to get a hold of. Okay? Is that a more suitable use of wording to your liking?? I'm starting to think you have issues that you need to pick apart everyone's posts on this thread. Sheesh!

It was just a question. I guess i just should have pointed out that is it is more than 2% you shouldn't pack it in your checked luggage.

What you view as "picking" was questioning whether information you, and others, posted was accurate as fact or not. Had your "better safe than sorry" opinion post been used early on we wouldn't have had this exchange.

Have a good day, I'd offer some pixie dust, but there isn't any here according to some posters.

Well as far as the pepper spray is concerned, I normally take it off of my keys when I travel to Disney and just leave it at home! I don't feel the need to take it with me there. But I completely forgot on that trip! Didn't realize it until I got to the hotel and was locking up valuables such as wallet, keys & such in the safe!

And regarding the narcotics...I will still stand by my original statement! If that isn't the case, then how did they haul my friend in and hold them until they proved they were their pills??? I was meaning it was better to travel that way in ANY state that way since you cannot know what each state's laws are. But again you want to pick everything apart. People have quoted that there are states with strict laws.

Okay, MD's law is "controlled susbtances" are to be kept in the original labeled prescription bottle or they can be confiscated by the police if they find you carrying them in any other fashion. Not opinion but Fact. Now that doesn't mean they will, BUT they CAN!!! SO it comes back to Better safe than Sorry! As many Dr's will NOT replace these scripts so readily!

The holding is mine. In the first bold, sometimes police contrive reasons to hold a person, other times it is to allow them to investigate. Just because they held your friend doesn't mean a medication is legally required to be in a prescription container.

In the second, just another request for a cite.

I can't see bolding on my phone but if you're asking about the laws in MD...
Look for them yourself... it's out there!
You don't want to believe it is true. Fine, don't believe it. I don't really care. I don't have to prove anything to you. Your opinion means nothing to me. I'm done discussing this with you. Have a great day!
