I'm trying to get a hold of the law....
The person I know got pulled over in FL and had their narcotic pain meds in something other than the prescription pill bottle. They had to make a trip to the police station. Once they got proper paperwork faxed from the Dr's office/pharmacy that they did in fact have a legit script for those meds they were let go.
But IMO any time you are dealing with narcotic pain meds it is MUCH better to be safe than sorry!!! Keep them in the original bottle to prove who they were prescribed to! Esp if you take them long term....
Also off topic....but taking them and driving is also considered driving under the influence in many states.
Absolutely dui if you take them and drive!!! This wasn't the case though. Yep, you should always keep that stuff in the original pill bottle, with your name and the doctor's name on it....just in case.
There was one trip to WDW, in early winter. I was at the end of a miserable head cold. Actually considered cancelling the trip but I felt better the day before we were to fly. I had more drugs in my carryon bag than a lot of stores have on their shelves. I was prepared for every contingency!!! Cough meds, sinus stuff, decongestants, ibu, etc. I must have had at least 8 bottles/boxes of stuff. No one said a word or raised an eyebrow. One TSA guy did tell me that he hoped I felt better soon!!
I don't think any of them particularly care what kind of pills you are bringing with you. They are not equipped to recognize most of the drugs out there.
