I am going to be bringing pillowcases for the characters to autograph for my sons. What type of markers do I need to get to ensure that the autographs are permanent?
Great idea! I would think a sharpie would work great. Maybe you can test it out before you go. And they come in so many different colors now. The benefit of them over say, a fabric marker, is they might dry faster (immeadiately) and they have nice tips on them.
We just returned and had the best time having the characters sign white t-shirts for the kids. This was our project for a week, to get as many as we could---since we have always done autograph books.
Now they can wear these! Had so many comments and compliments. The kids wore their shirts the last day when we were leaving.
We used sharpies and they had so much fun selecting the "color" for each character to sign in.
I used an embroidery hoop to get the material tight. After each one, I would reposition the hoop so that it would be ready for the next character. In fact, I even used two hoops at times on the shirts--to save time in case we saw them unexpectedly.
Last summer we used pillowcases for autographs. I took several sharpies so we would not run out of ink!! My kids love them! They love to read the names on their pillows and my husband and I have a set too! Several CMs commented on never seeing pillowcases before. On our first trip we used Disney T's and this past spring break we used Mickey ball caps that we picked up at the disney store outlet for 99cents! We had a piece of cardboard to use to keep ours wrapped and give a good surface to write on.
You can also give the pillow cases/tshirts/etc and markers to the concierege at your resort and kindly ask them to have it signed (sometimes MM, MM, etc) visit the resorts and they'll do that ..... just an fyi....

I had a shirt signed 3 years ago and it was with sharpies and after about 6months of wearing and washing you could bearly see the writting. THe sharpie faded really bad. I know Michaels has a huge selection of fabric markers in a vast varity of colors.
