pillow case or can I put both in one bag?

What do I write on the outside of the bag? Our name or room number?

Thanks...leaving tomrw on our FIRST trip. Need to arrive early do to our driver (my mom) hope the wait won't be too bad for our 5 y/o twins.

I put our 2 pillowcases in one ziploc bag with a sharpie and then I put our last name and stateroom number on a sticker attached to the ziploc bag.

Hope you enjoy your cruise.

It is best to put them in something like a ziploc bag. I have actually used the package that the pillowcases have come in on one of our cruises.

The Ziploc bag just makes it easier for DCL to keep the pillowcases and Sharpies together.

sorry perhaps i missed a thread about this... i've seen people talking about getting pillowcases signed can you pre send them and have all signatures on them?

I actually have 3 being signed. I put all three into one ziplock with a thank you note, a gratuity, and on another paper just slipped into the bag, I put out names and cabin number.

did you include? That is a nice gesture and not one I'd thought of.

Do the permanent markers bleed through the pillowcases?

Remember this is not an "official" offering by DCL and there are no real rules....only suggestions that seem to work by posters here....common sense dictates that the items should be contained in something that has your name and stateroom # for ease of keeping everyone separated and being able to identify which items are yours. DCL was overwhelmed for awhile and stopped this completely but has since been accepting items for signature again....I would hate to see them take it away again with too many items being submitted by individuals. But keep in mind, everyone's experience will be different...I am sure a lot has to do with what CM is on the desk at the time and how busy they are.

The gratuity idea is nice, but who is it intended for....the guest service CM that took the bag or the CM (character) that signed the items or both???

I just want in this thread! I'm planning on taking a pillowcase for my ds, and I'm also curious about how to handle the gratuity!

Thanks!

Ok, I'll bite...stupid newbie question: Why are you taking pillowcases on the cruise? What am I missing out on...please advise.

The pillowcases will be signed by all the characters and then you have a unique souvenir...
Please elaborate the procedure involved: how/who do you give them to, suggested gratuity (and to whom). Thanks.

We did not include a gratuity with our pillow cases (two in one ziploc bag with sharpies labeled with our room #), but we did give a phone card to the person in guest services who so graciously assisted us throughout our entire cruise.

We checked in with Guest Services on the last full day to pick them up. I don't believe they will deliver.

As I understand it (and I have not done this yet), you take it to Guest Services in a ziploc bag with sharpies (more colors if you want more variety) along with your name and cabin number.

Then you can either pick it up at the end of the cruise, or it may be delivered by your cabin steward.

I am interested in the gratuity as well, and I'm guessing it goes to the Guest Services CM, who is probably doing all the signing? Just a guess, waiting for a definitive reply, as well as how much to tip.

Just wanted to add that some permanent markers fade, so next time I will spend extra for Fabric Markers. I got cheaper ones thinking I wasn't getting them back, and of course we did.
The ziploc bag is great if your luggage is already gone and your new souvenier winds up on top of your still damp bathing suit..... :rolleyes1

Thanks for the tip, I will get fabric markers!

of the kitchen staff sitting around a table late night passing around ziploc bags stuffed with Sharpies and various items such as pillow cases and tshirts taking dibs on who will be Cinderella, Mickey Mouse, etc. on this week's cruise. Hopefully, they will be able to split the gratuities some are suggesting.

It is a great idea, I hope to do it for our party, too. Maybe I'll get over the image of Eduardo from Columbia signing Mickey's name while wearing a sous chef uniform...
