I know a lot of you are either from this area, or visit, so any recommendations?? Thanks so much! :)

The Park Grille for a nice dinner
The Pancake Pantry for breakfast- accept no substitutions
The Old Mill- good home cookin'

Agree w/ the Old Mill Restaurant. I haven't been to the others mentioned

Also The Apple Barn--NUMMY NUM

The Old Mill- go at lunch for a shorter wait, dinner wait is LOOOONG
Applewood Farmhouse Rest-HUGE portions
Flying Horse- I like their honey chicken & indoor caroseul (sp?)

We would drive all the way up there (5 hours, one way) just to eat at Applewood's. YUM! :cloud9:

My kids aren't fans of vegetable soup, but they ask to get the veggie soup instead of fries with their kids meals! It is THAT good! (and no, they won't give out the recipe ;) )

And another vote for the Pancake Pantry too. :thumbsup2They have AWESOME crepes!

I totally third the Applewood Farmhouse. The apple fritters are addictive. But not the "grill" part of it. Just the farmhouse. We only went to the Old Mill once and didn't care for it but I've heard lots of people like it and would probably give it another chance.

The Old Mill is really good- love the chowder!!

I second the Pancake Factory if you want to go into Gatlinburg. So Yummy that I DREAM about it sometimes! They have the best french toast that I have ever had. They also have this sandwich (I can't remember the name) that is basically a burger with a yummy horseradish dip that is to die for. I also LOVE the cucumbers and onions in their vinegar sour cream mixture. Oh man, now I am hungry!

These were yummy on my last trip:

Calhoun's - just had the saland and baked potato, but it was great!

Alamo Steakhouse - have eaten at both but liked the Gatlinburg one better; go at lunch (cheaper), plus you can use the coupon that comes in all those discount books (usually not good for dinner)

Flapjack's - we ate at the one on 321 in Gatlinburg headed towards the Arts and Crafts Community.

The Flying Horse Grill is closed - Mellow Mushroom is opening there (soon!)... Five Guys will be at Walden's Landing soon. Calhouns is good. If you like Italian, venture over to Sevierville - Gondolier - it's cheap and has huge portions and free yummy breadsticks and marinara! For steak, the Chop House at Five Oaks outlet. The Old Mill Cafe (across from the Old Mill, by the Pottery House) has very good quiche and sandwiches. If you're really adventurous, locals LOVE to eat at Frank Allen's grill - it's in the Shell Station across from Wal Mart. Weird to me (eating at a gas station) but people love it.

We live here and just don't get the appeal of the Apple Barn, Old Mill or Alamo. We've tried the Peddler a few times and aren't impressed, either.

There is a place in gatlinburg call best italian, it looks like a little whole in the the wall from outside but the food is to die for.pizza, spaghetti and meatballs and deep fried mushroom. it is near the pancake pantry it's set back with some other shops on the left handside coming into gatlinburg. alot of food for one person so you might want to share..

We enjoy the Applewood Farmhouse, especially for breakfast but our favorite place is in Gatlinburg-the Smokey Mountain Brewery. They have the best soft pretzels with house made beer cheese and really yummy pizzas as well. We have been known to drive waaaay out of our way returning from SC just to eat there.

Sorry to hear that the Flying Horse closed. We really enjoyed it when we were there last October. We like going to Huck Finns.

Thanks for all the great suggestions! I have written them all down and will see what works in our itinerary and interest with our group. They all sound great! My DH just loves pancakes, so I think he'll be good to go!:cloud9:

Another must do vote for Pancake Pantry...simply the best!

Also, for a good steak dinner The Peddler in Gatlinburg. :thumbsup2

Calhoun's hands down...
And yet another vote for the Pancake Pantry (pecan pancakes :faint:)

How could I forget about Huck Finn's?!? Heart-stopping fried goodness!
