Pierced Ears - What Age?

For DD, it was 12 years. For the boys, it is Over My Dead Body years.

I was about 7 or 8 when I got mine done. I lvoed them.. MY sister also got them ddone when I had mine.. I took care of them and they did not heal up... Later in middle school they evenutallay heald up.. i think it was because of the clorine from swimming and not having them in all the time. i got them redone when i was 14 .. then i had my second holes done when i was 16 almost 17. i am not going to get cartlige done until after i am done with wdwcp

I was very worried about the ear piercing guns when I decided to get DD's piercied. That's why my pediatrician does it in his office and the "guns" are single use. There was no way I was going to Claire's and having my baby's ears pierced with a plastic gun used on someone else.

At claires they now have single use guns.

DD7 thought she wanted her's done a year ago(not that I would have let her). We happened to be in the mall one day when she was talking about it and went over to Claire's. A girl about her age was just about to get her's pierced. We decided to watch. Well the girl burst into tears and that was enough for DD . She's never brought it up again.

I was 12 when I got them done. My mom wanted to make sure I was old enough to take care of them.

My DD was 3 months old. She had it done in her doctors office. Both my DH and my MIL were pist at me - I didn't care. I wanted my babies ears pierced, her little mohawk looked too much like a little boy. Even in her pink dresses. I'm a firm believer that the earrings complete the 'whole look' -

My DD9 is talking about getting her ears pierced. I didn't get mine done until college-aged so I don't have any experience with younger girls and pierced ears. What do you think?

I got mine done for my 8th birthday and was fine with it (well, I was annoyed that I had to have them shot through twice because the jeweler didn't listen to me and originally used the wrong earrings ). My mom, however, was another story. She very nearly passed out; the jeweler had to send another employee across the mall to a shoe store to get her one of those little stools (the ones that salesmen use to fit kids for shoes) to sit on. Oh, and this was before she had her ears pierced; she was that freaked out by watching me have mine done. Hee hee.

My daughter was 3. She had no problems. Only thing.. the older sister(age 9) of one of her friends was very jealous/upset because she had to wait until 12.. "Its no fair" whine to her mom.

I was 8 and my mom was 47.. we had them done at the same time.

I had mine done when I was 12, I had asked a few years previously and was told no so I didn't push it. Then one day when I was 12 I was shopping with my mum and dad and we passed a jewellers and my mum asked if I wanted them done and I said I did. My mum had hers done at the same time as she had never had hers done before. I made my mum go first though as I was scared of the pain!!

My sister had them done at birth.

I was a month old.

My oldest was 9months old and youngest was 3 months old.

DD was 6mths or something close to that. I prefer it younger, and all the rotten stuff is out of the way by the time they can change them themselves...

Exactly. My mother did mine with a sterile needles, a bar of soap and an ice cube when I was six months old. I swear I could remember it. I had DD done when she was six months too! Easy as pie. But for older girls, wait as long as you can, The wholes can become to easily infected when they change them or play with them.
