I rented out most of my points because we weren't planning on a trip any time soon. Things have changed and now we're thinking of going Thanksgiving week. As of today both OKW and SSR have one bedrooms available for our dates. OKW is 195 points. SSR is 207 or 239 points.

I own at both SSR and OKW. September UY for both. This is what I have available

2019 UY
6 OKW
7 SSR

2020 UY
13 OKW

2021
60 OKW
50 SSR

I figure I can bank and borrow to bring me to 79 OKW points and 57 SSR points. for a total of 136. I'm still 59-103 points short. I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to accomplish this.

I'm just learning the finer details of DVC myself but couldn't you find an owner willing to transfer points? OKW looks like the easier route if you don't want to lose any dangling points.

Yes that's my plan. I'm just trying to figure out the easiest way to do it. Should I try to find someone with the same resort and UY so I can book a split stay now and then hope to move to one or the other at 7 months. I wouldn't be too concerned if it wasn't Thanksgiving week. And I'm not positive which is better. Find someone with SSR points or OKW points.

A transfer would be the best way. It used to be that same resort and UY showed up online. Recent reports are that no longer happens so it means you will have to call MS to book and change any reservation using transferred points.

What I would do, if it were me and I didn’t want to split stay is to that and get a transfer of one resort over the other and book that way, and leave your own points for the other resorts in tact,

As long as the points you get are valid for a Nov 2020 trip, it can be any UY that works,

I think either resort will be just as easy..or hard...to change at 7 months if you book now as a split stay. But, I will say I tend to see more SSR available longer than I do OKW.

Book the Thursday and Friday (or Wed and Thurs) of Thanksgiving week with your OKW points. Then get a transfer of the OKW points you need to finish up the reservation.

I definitely think Deb & Bill have a great plan. Thursday and Friday would be 66 points and that would give you a bit of breathing room to find the transfer.

Just looked at the points chart. 7-month window opens next month. If you were booking Sun-Sun, the first three nights are 74 points and the next two are 60. So, here's my "what if":
1. book Wednesday and Thursday OKW (60 pts) now
2. when 7-month booking window opens next month, book Sunday-Tuesday (72 pts)
3. Friday and Saturday nights. Do you have an AP or other discount? that may be cheaper than the transfer, but that won't be offered until later this year. Anyway, just an idea, on my part. :)

I do have an AP. That was actually my original thought. But I'm afraid to wait too long.

Waiting on the AP might be too nerve-wracking, I agree. But, it does seem the discounts make one-bedrooms a good deal, even more so than buying points.
