Pictures with the Characters

Sorry for yet another rookie question...

Do most of the characters have a host with them that will take a picture for you if you stop during the race?

I got so caught up in running the half at Disneyland I totally forgot to take any pictures. Just want to make sure I do it this time and enjoy the run. If this is really the only marathon I ever do, I want to make it special.

Of course then I will decide that goofy medal is pretty cool and I need one of those. That is what got me running the marathon in the first place. I wanted one of those cool Coast to Coast medals and registration for the half was already filled up.

that's my plan too........running this full and then doing the DL in Sept to get the coast to coast

Yes a CM is there and will take your photo. If you camera is a little complicated, I had one that would power down after 30 secs at one time, just make sure it is ready to shoot when you hand off

Since its you first full consider taking photos of the mile markers also. I ran along side a guy from Japan in 06 who was really faster then I was. He caught me eye at mile 7 and I stopped to take his picture at the mile maker. I would hand the camera back to him and he would pack it in the pack and take off passing me at about the half to 2/3 mile point. I would came up to the mile marker and there he would be. We played tag until mile 13 when I slowed up a bit to avoid him. I needed a little alone time as I was hitting 'those' miles.

There are these Burma Shave type signs that ask wierd trvia questions. You may want to photograph those. I know there is one question in particular that keeps me thinking for a couple days.

You know there are characters that I have never seen anywhere but the marathon. I should bring my freebie Kodak camera and take photos of ones who I do not recognize and finally figure out who they are.

I always see finish area photos with Race characters. I have never personally seen them. But I must admit that by the time I get 13, 26 or 39 miles under my belt I am more worried about taking personal inventory to assure myself that I am good to get away from the race medical coverage; that I have enough water and sport drink to get me to the room and that I have taken some recovery food. I guess that I would stop to take a photo if one were out when I went by. Otherwise I am headed back to the room for a stretch and cool down.

There are characters in the family reunion area.

The handlers will take pics and if you line up on each side of the handlers as in 2 lines, the lines will go quicker.

Glad to hear you are thinking of taking pictures. They are fun!

I'll be in the waaay back of the pack. I am walking about a 14.30 minute pace. Will there still be characters out on the route? I am really looking forward to that part and worry I'll be too slow to see them.

I think I will wait to find characters for photo ops after the race in the park. The minute I start to run my face turns bright red and remains that way until long after I am finished. It is quite embarrassing. I perpetually look like I am about to pass out or blow up even if I feel just fine. It does not make for attractive pictures, that's for sure! One of the downsides of having fair skin and red hair, I guess.
