We are going on our next WDW trip in November. It will be our 3rd trip in four years but this time it is our dd's 5th birthday.
Besides the obvious pictures at Cindy's breakfast, what are some "don't miss" pictures I should take?
I know i've seen a list somewhere but I can't find it on this board or any of the "other" WDW boards.

Thanks!
Meredith

I don't know about a list, but I must take pics of each park icon (tree of life, castle, etc.)...fun restaurants...lots of the resort grounds...try to get as many as I can remember in ride vehicles...the sign or entrance to our favorite attractions of the year (or new attractions)...pretty much EVERYTHING at wdw is photogenic!!!

First off! Make sure to stop at the guest relations office in MK. They will give yourDD a Happy birthday button! Very cute! SOmetimes the cast members and characters will make a fuss over your child! Also if you are staying on site tell them it is her birthday. They might ask who her favorite character is and send to the room Balloons and signed picture. They did this for my Daughter but that was almost 4 years ago!

We try to get a picture every year on the bridge headed to frontier land.
Not sure what pictures not to miss. I just say shoot away! But make sure to zoom in on your child's face when she is with the characters so not all you pictures are full length. Go for the un posed shots. When she is handing them the book. DIfferent perspective.
Have fun and Happy birthday!

Are you allowed to take pics inside rides, like of people in the vehicles? What about during shows?

Does anyone know what the restrictions are?

There are probably restrictions on the shows - as those are performances, but generally if that is the case they will post a sign and/or make an announcement.

One set of pictures I always take is the room! I get a front desk shot, the door with the room number, and the various angles. Although I do this for all vacations it is especially fun at Disney because invariably when we look at the pictures later there are hidden details we hadn't seen.

I also try to catch the "unusual" things - like kids looking at a map planning the next day, or someone konked out at the end of a long day. One of my favorites I took a couple of years ago when DH and the two kids are sitting on this out of the way bench after coming out of Space Mountain. DH has the park map spread on his knees, DS is intently studying it as well and DD is staring off into space. It is a good picture of the 3 and I just had to label it "Are we Having Fun Yet?"

So as someone said earlier SHOOT AWAY - you never know what will be the favorite picture.

And, take a look at the last trips to see if there are some that you took on both trips. You may want to seriously think about making those a traditional shot to see development or growth over the years. The one like that I always take is with the castle at MK in the background as you're heading towards Liberty Square (?) - you know the one that has the photo op sign and the castle without a lot of other stuff in the background is perfectly framed. I also like to take an opening shot down main street from the train station upper level.

Well, I guess you get the idea, take lots of pictures! :hyper: The crazieset thing I ever heard was one day I was picking up photos from one of our early trips (before I got into scrapping and didn't have LSS developing). I think I was picking up 30 rolls or so and another woman was flipping through ONE roll of prints saying to her friend, "it was all I could do to take this roll - the kids wanted me to take pictures of everything at Disney World". All I could think was those poor kids, I hope they have good brains because the memories certainly weren't captured on film.

I've never taken pictures inside a ride. But on rides like Splash Mtn, even BTMRR we've taken lots of pictures of our kids in the ride vehicle. Yes, they are up close, but if you will get the child's face to one side of the picture you can see what ride you are on. Some of these are my favorites.

I have one of my son when he was 5 on BTMRR. I was sitting next to him in the seat and I just turned and took the picture - the joy on his face!!! He has always loved that ride!

I have taken several on Splash Mtn after the big drop while you are outside waiting to go back inside. Everyone is wet and the ride usually stops momentarily and taking a picture is easy.

I've never tried one on Test Track - I'm afraid I would lose the camera! But I've gotten some on Dumbo and other rides.

Also, I always have the CM that waits on us take our picture at WDW restaurants. I've got some really great pictures this way and the whole family is in it. I've never had one even remotely seem to mind doing it.

We started taking pictures of all our servers this past trip in May.

Thanks for the link Pjlla! I saved it, hopefully I can get our printer working again so I can print it out!

Bedspreads, carpets and ceilings make great page elements, corner squares or letters. Take a photo of any hidden Mickey you might find. You might even have your child pointing to it. Our bedspread had a hidden Mickey on it.

Ok, don't laugh but when we stayed at POR in June I took a picture of the shower curtain. Yes, that's right....the shower curtain!! Call me crazy!! My husband did.......so did 3 DDs!!
But here's why. I'm a travel agent ok? Have been for 9 yrs. One of the first questions I'm asked is "What's the bathroom like?" Doesn't matter if I'm talking to a client about a cruise, a honeymoon to Sandals in Jamaica or a trip to Disney everyone wants to know how big is the bathroom!!! So I took a picture of it. And our room, the lobby of POR, the walks to the bus depot...even the squirrels that were outside our door every morning!! Took some of the us waiting on the bus, of course the Main entrance as you're going through the turnstiles, statue of Mickey and Walt, and so many others! I have taken pictures inside the rides especially on Splash Mtn b/c I LOVE the theme but on POTC, they ask that you not take pix. I've take pic of Beauty and Beast show at MGM but not any of the 3D shows. Wish I could have taken some of It's Tough to be a Bug show at AK. I also took pic of my girls after they got off Kali River for the 3rd time. That was a great shot b.c all 3 are dripping wet!! I wish I had thought to pack the water camera b/c there would have been some great pix on that...especially when my 4 yr old got slammed w/a wave that came up and over her head onto her lap!!!!! Priceless!!

I found a website that might help you too. Look at magictrips.com. They have a list of questions and answers that I'm sure you can find about where to take pix.

I took 18 rolls of pictures between 6 days at Disney and a day each at Sea World and Universal. People look at me like I'm nuts but this was our first trip and since DH will probalby be getting laid off from his job in 2006, it will be our last one for a very long time so I had to have the memories.

Have fun!!

This was all great info!! Even though we have been twice already I feel like I get home with my pics ready to scrap and I think, why didn't I get a pic of X or Z. My dh says I'm too worried about taking pictures and have more fun. What does he know anyway?

Thanks again for your help!!

BTW.. My must-have pic is in front of the Toon Town sign. On a whim I picked DD up out of her stroller and stood in front of the sign and made a funny face and she did the same. Luckily, my mom got a pic of it. It is my favorite pic of the whole trip!
