Pictures of things No Longer Seen at WDW

@FigmentIsTheBest Thanks for starting this AWESOME thread! So many things on here that I remember. I just read through all 111 pages and boy am I glad, because....

I don't know anyone else who has photos like this! Here is a picture of my sister and I in what I'd guess was the early 90s.

I REALLY wish Disney still did this! :earsboy:

You are most welcome.

I am always amazed at the effort everyone has made to make this thread so enjoyable. As I have said before, the thanks belongs to all the folks who have added to this thread.

Thanks for your picture! It is very cute. Looks like everyone was having a fun time.

Thanks to everyone for their effort!

Looking forward to more.

Slowly working my way through this thread... two questions:

1) What was in GM World of Motion before TT? Was it a ride?

2) What was Delta dream flight? I have no memory of that.

Before starting my own family trips with my kids in 1998 I had only been to MK twice. Once was when there was only the Contemporary and Poly and MK, and once shortly after Epcot opened but we only did a day trip to MK.

Thanks.

GM World of Motion was a ride that took you through the history of transportation. It was an Omnimover type ride (like Haunted Mansion or any of those that move constantly along a belt).

Delta Dream Flight was also an Omnimover ride that was where Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin is now. Buzz actually uses the exact same Omnimover track (with speed tunnel), but the cars were changed. This one took you on a flight to various locations and talked a little about aviation history I think. It replaced an older version called "If You Had Wings."

I believe they are talking about the Tron overlay on the Epcot Monorail Train. I don't remember how long it was there, but, it seems like about a year. I could be very wrong about the timing.

They've done the monorail wraps a few times -- Tron, Iron Man (maybe 2?), the Avengers, and I think I remember Monsters University. I'm sure there were others.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think whenever they've done the Marvel wraps, they can't run that one on the Epcot track, since that track goes through the park, and that could put them in violation of the contract with Universal (from before the Disney purchase) that gives Universal exclusive theme park rights east of the Mississippi.

I know Tron did run on the Epcot track because I rode it there, but, I do think that there is a restriction on the MK express lines. Not sure about that one, but, I am sure it ran to Epcot. I also think that Tron isn't part of the agreement with Universal... I could be wrong about that one.

No, you're correct on that, Tron is an original Disney property, not part of Marvel. And I think that was the first wrapped monorail, too. And yup, we rode it to Epcot also! :). I think even the Marvel contract does have some exceptions, like maybe something (previously) obscure like Guardians of the Galaxy? Not sure though.

Tron was running at the same time as the Marvel train in Post #1. The photo in Post #1 one was taken from the Ferry from the TTC on approach to the MK. (The Marvel train was approaching the MK from GF.) We also rode the Tron train that visit.
