I have pictures of the Happiest Celebration at MK today and some pictures of the hang gliders on the grass by the Land.

I got to meet the Imagineer Mark that invented Soarin at Epcot. It was the high point of my day. Soarin is my favorite ride.

For a Disney geek like me today was awesome. The simulcast with the other Disney parks was great. That is what you can see in some of the pictures. Billy from WDW was the MC along with Wayne Brady. Diana DeGarmo(sp) and some other Broadway stars sang. They had a lot of the characters on stage. They had invited guests with Golden Mickey ears and at the end of the song they threw up their hats. They also had lots of CM's come out as the fireworks started.

In CA. they had Robert Iger, Michael Eisner, Art Linkletter. They had a great video presentation from all the parks. It brought a tear to many peoples eyes.

It is a day I won't soon forget. If I didn't get enough pictures I apologize. Today was a day I just wanted to experience the magic.

I love Walt Disney and the vision he had. The parks and CM's were awesome today!!!

But the rain held off until after the 1 PM. simulcast. It is raining off and on now.

I was really hoping it was going to be a sunny day. We're getting the edge of the storm now (I'm further south).

Was it crowded?

Not as crowded as I expected it to be. The parking lot at MK wasn't very full when I left at 2 PM. It was hard walking in the Main St. area because the street was blocked off. Lots of crowds on the sidewalks but once you got past the Tip board the crowds thinned out.

Wow.. I thought it would be packed. Maybe the rain kept some of them away?

The day reminded me of the 25th anniversary of WDW - October 1st 1996. We went to MK that day... although all the messages under our door asked us not to. We were able to ride all the rides with no lines, because of the celebration in front of the castle. We got to see the simulcast near Pirates of the Caribbean.... and the huge parade from Splash Mountain. It was so neat to see all the security, and VIPs througout the park!

The photos were awesome! It's been a crumby day, so you just made it a whole lot better! I can't wait to see everything in 26 days...oh, the shopping fun I will have,too!! My first pair of ears is from 1976 and I really don't like my Minnie headband ears...too tight...so I MUST have a pari of golden ears!!!

Thanks so much for posting your pictures and thoughts on the experience. I can see I'm going to need more souvenir spending money for the upcoming trip though between the 50th anniversary stuff, the Flower fest pins, and Star Wars weekend stuff. BTW, it's the pins that seem to catch my eye every time too and I'm not even a real collector.
Like I wasn't excited before....
24 days!!!!

Momsgoofy- we are going to be at OKW at the same time, got to find some lime green stuff so we stand out.

Between my daughter and I we spent over $150.00 for the limited edition pins. I missed out on the one I really wanted or I would have spent $50 more. We have quite a collection.

I've been thinking of the Celebration all day and wishing I was part of it!
I've been in such a good mood today and I don't know how many people at work I told today that it was the beginning of the 50th Celebration but they all looked at me like I was crazy...hmm, Disney crazy is a nice kind of crazy methinks!! I don't even get to attend the celebration at all but it makes me happy to think of all who do!
