Pictures I Really Like

We've got lots of threads where people post pictures that they've taken...one's that a typical tourist wouldn't take, their favorite from the last time they used their camera, contest threads, etc. I haven't seen a thread dedicated to pictures that other people have taken that you like. So here it is.

So when you see a picture that you like in a different thread, post it here. Tell us why you liked it (even if it wasn't the intent of the original photographer). Watch here to see if anyone pics one of your pictures.

To be fair to the original poster, make sure that you post a link back to where the picture came from. I think that the best way to do that is to find the thread with the original picture and click "Quote". Then copy the entire [Quote.../Quote] section and paste it into your thread here. At the top of the quote section is the ID of the original poster and a cryptic number that will turn into a link back to the original thread.

Be respectful of the work that you repost here. In addition to linking back, keep your comments positive. It's one thing to critique a picture that someone has asked for a critique of. It's quite another to offer criticism when it isn't ask for. In short, stick to posting about why you liked a picture and don't go on about how it could have been so much better if...

So go find the pictures that you like. Post them here and let us know why you liked them.

Here's one that Jen took that I like. The colors are ultrasaturated, but still natural looking. I love the darker blue corners lightening towards the flower. It really helps the flower pop. I also like the sense of prickly texture I get looking at the stem. Kudos for getting really, really low to take the shot. That allows the flower to tower over the viewer and dominate the scene.

From this morning - taken at a park about 2 blocks from my house.

Great idea for a thread!!

Since I can't see pictures in posts while I'm at work I'll have to wait until I get home to participate.

This is going to be hard. There are so many fantastic photos on here. I will go and try to post at least one. Great idea btw.

Here is one of my favorites that I have seen on here. It is by Mark Barbieri and I loved how the water looks here. It has inspired me to try this technique, but so far I haven't had any good results, but I shall keep trying.

If you want to see the original thread check here:http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1776849

In this 4/10 second shot, I captured water flowing over a rock in what looks almost like a waterfall in the ocean.

I found this picture of Jeff's one night while I was searching the old threads and actually subscribed just because I liked this picture so much.

It inspired me to take a trip to AK PM EMH (even though I try to avoid them PM EMH like the plague) to try to get some shots, hopefully ones that are even a fraction as great as these. Animal Kingdom at night looks like a completely different place from Animal Kingdom during the day.

The picture also reinforced my desire to make sure I have the Sigma 30 before our next trip, whether rented or bought.

My favorite thing in the whole picture is the star effect from the strings of lights.

Here is the original thread. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1791010

Finally got over to AK for a few hours of photography after dark with the new tripod. All pictures taken with D300 + Sigma 30mm f1.4. Aperature Priority at f11, ISO 200.

Oh my....those are incredible!! I am envious of your talent. Karen

This photo still amazes me. I subscribed to the thread, and share it often when talking about photography. Jeff (ex Gdad;) ), way to go. You really captured the moment, I can almost hear the blow torch going. And the black is so black!! It's almost as if there was noone there. I'm babbling. Kudos!!!!!!

Just wanted to give this thread a bump. I know there have got to be more photos than this that people really like or try to replicate. Here is another one I really like, it was posted by ZackieDawg (Justin Miller). I don't remember what the context was and couldn't find the original thread, but you can go into his pbase galleries and find the shot there.

The reason I like this shot so much is just the amount of "ghosting" from the people. Usually there might be a little bit of it from a much shorter exposure, but using the NDx400 filter, I believe this was a 5 second exposure, allowing for a properly exposed photo while still getting that awesome effect. This is something I would LOVE to try on our next trip to WDW and have purchased a ND filter specifically for this (as well as his long exposure of Dumbo). OR, he could just save me the trouble and let me claim ownership of these ;)
