Good info here

Hometown is Chorley, has some nice little stories in history.

How the Bircakre bleach works went on strike (1800's) and the local Wagemaster sent for a pack of goons from Wigan to break the strike. They got to the local pub about 2 miles away, proceeded to drink heavily for a few days, got bored and went back to Wigan.

and

2nd oldest inn within Britain (Allegedly)

There is a drink theme developing here, better stop ;)

Here is some info about Eastbourne it is the town that I live closest to, actually about 1/2 mile from its boundary!
And some pictures here

As for travelling abroad what type od pictures would you like?

Claire ;)

wow these are perfect!!!!!

I sent them to be approved and my history teacher loved them!!!

oh and the place called Leeds..theres a story here in New Jersey about the Jersey Devil...he was the 13th Leed's child hmmmm...that was the first thing that came into my mine when I saw that! I wonder if there is any connection?

There is lots of information about Jersey out there, but this is one of the official tourism sites. There are lots of good photos on the site (under Things to Do & See > Picture Gallery), especially of all our fantastic beaches!

The New Jersey connection:
During the English Civil War the Island of Jersey remained loyal to The English Crown and gave sanctuary to the King.
It was from the Royal Square in St. Helier that Charles II was first proclaimed King of England in 1649, following the execution of his father, Charles I.
In 1663 (in recognition of his loyalty to the English Crown) George Carteret, Jersey's Royalist Governor, was gifted a large tract of land in North America henceforth known as New Jersey.
