Pictures for Trip Report: What am I missing???

I wanted to test inserting a picture into a thread prior to starting my trip report for our trip in a few weeks. I started reading about needing photobucket,flicker etc. and several people having problems. I decided to go to the Tech area and reply to a test page. I noticed a "upload a file" button at the bottom of the reply.(I just noticed it on here as well) I hit the button and chose a file on my computer and loaded the pic. Loaded easy and hit reply and the picture popped up in the thread?

What am I missing?

Why the need for photobucket etc? Will this not normally work the way I did it?
I just want to make sure that I will be able to start posting pics when I begin my trip report.

The upload a file is new from the upgrade to the system. Having a photobucket account etc, used to be the only way to post and you posted the link into your report. Upload a file is the new and easy way to do it. That is how all of mine were added. Looking forward to the pictures.

Chris is right - with the new forum software we recently got the "upload a file" option is now available.
