Picture Taking Advice?

I think someone else had a thread going, but a lot of it was about digital camera types. My questions are: 1) If using a 35mm camera, any suggestions on film type (need it for indoor/outdoor/nighttime shots i.e. fireworks). 2) My DH has decided to let me get a digital camera for my b-day and if I can get one in the next two weeks, any suggestions on what kind to get? (I'm technologically impaired, so please keep it simple!). My thanks to all who can help!

Office Max has a 4 MP Kodak (model CX7430) in their ad for this week for only $149.99. My previous digital was a Kodak and I was very pleased with it. I just bought this new one last night as an upgrade (old one was only 2 MP) and so far it's been great. It's a simple camera, but also has many options that you can take advantage of. You can check Kodak's website for more info on it.

I couldn't pass it up for that price, though.

I have a 35mm, but my brother is a professional photographer and he just bought his wife a Canon digital camera. He said he did alot of research and
Canon's are the best/easiest to use digital camera for the average picture taker. -- I don't know prices, but I remember Wal-Mart having some good deals on cameras.

Also whenever I am looking to buy something I don't know alot about, I go over and read the "real people" reviews at Amazon. I just bought a new 35mm and reading the reviews at Amazon helped alot when I was trying to decide which one to get.

I've always used 400 speed Fuji film at Disney. I've used it indoors and out, bright light and flash, and have been very happy.

I find the 800 too grainy for my taste.
