Did I mention to you guys that I discovered the macro lens to my digital camera? Neat feature. First is an overall view of the area behind my pool and next will be some macro images. These photos are from the end of June. I since mulched some of the plants. The bottom far end in front of wall is where I planted those Senora rudbeckia last year which I ended up not liking. Just as well, they didn't return this year. So I did plant some other things there once the spring rains stopped including my DIS exchange dahlias! Can't wait until they bloom and I will post pictures of them. Meanwhile, hope you guys enjoy these:

Are those coreopsis? They look wonderful! The two-tone pink...I'm going out on a limb here (thank goodness this isn't a pop quiz..lol), are they dianthus?

You score 100% Snowwark! Since planting those coreopsis, I've seen a different variety where the leaves are finer. I like that look alot but I am very happy with these too which are about to go into their second bloom cycle -- thanks to learning here (I believe from DixieDee!) that I should cut back severely after first blooms fade!

As a matter of fact, Saturday I will be going to an old H.S. buddy's house for her annual barbecue and I am going to take her some of the coreopsis because sharing is one of the fun things about gardening!

You know Tulirose, I think, though I'm not 100% sure, that the foliage difference you mention, is the difference between threadleaf tickseed (Coreopsis), and lance-leaved tickseed. Mine are the threadleaf tickseed, Zagreb.

I'm sure your friend will be pleased with her gift!
