Hi all- Any ideas on how to organize pics and memorabilia while traveling? I'm heading off to a 7 day cruise and really want to stay organized. Thanks in advance!

Hey Kitty......This is going to sound a little weird but what i do is make notes on a little spiral notepad....about 3 x 5 .... and will make notes on the film I use. Here's an example: I'm a travel agent and get to go on ship inspections and hotel site inspections. When I'm on a particular ship, I'll write, "Coral Dinning Room 1-5," "Casino 6-10" and so forth. When I'm seeing the different cabins, I'll take a picture of the room # on the front of the door and then take pictures inside. I can easily go back to my ship layout and find out what category these rooms are and on what deck. I'm pretty anal about it and it drives my DH crazy. If I'm lucky enough to get to go w/one of my co-workers,
we share pictures and share notes so that when I put the pix in an album, it's pretty much organized. When we went to Disney last year, I'd try to number each roll so they'd be in order and I would ALWAYS, take out the used rolls of film each night. IF I had any energy, I'd try to write notes after we got back to the room while everything was fresh on my mind. This helps w/journaling.
Hope these ideas help somewhat.

I would bring along some sort of recloseable bag or folder for each day. I bought a simple plastic organizer type thing for each child. We bring them along to WDW... at the end of each day I collect any/all receipts, stickers, buttons, etc that they collected throughout the day and put them in the organizer. When we get home I have a pouch full of things ready to scrap, like receipts, napkins, stickers. I only use one pouch per kid, but you could use one per day of your trip. I also carry a small 3 x 5 spiral pad and keep a daily diary of what we have done, where we have gone, what/where we ate, rides, parades, etc. When we get home I transcribe into Word and have most all my journaling ready for scrapping! HTH.............P

You take the file mate along on your trip. Each day you insert any menus, napkins, little finds etc along with a quick note about the day or something cute someone said etc. This way when the photos come back or you print them you put them into your organizer with a note to see the file mate day 1 for addtional scrap items for these pages.

Hope this helps....by the way if you dont think you will have any large items one of the little accordian style photo organizers would work great.

I agree with Goofymom - I took the file mate from CM on our trip to Europe in 2003 for nearly a month - it kept all my maps, postcards, napkins, brochures, etc. nice and flat and it fit into my normal sized backpack which I used as my carry on when we went from country to country on the plane. On days when we were traveling by train or car I packed it flat on the bottom of my suitcase and it worked well. I'm planning on taking it to DW on our upcoming trip. It's nice not to have to worry about things getting creased or bent.
