Facing a similar problem trying to video Mickey's Philharmagic, I made "lenses" for two of my cameras using the cap pf a seasoning battle for one, and the bottom of a 35 mm film can for the other, cutting out, and inserting a bit of 3D material... thought I had it in my blog, but can't find it, so hopefully, this will give you enough to go on.
