That must have been a church group who was camping and asked permission to use the campfire area... I can't imagine it is a regular occurrence. Disney has been scaling back on-property services over the years, I'd be amazed if they started a new one. If anyone sees another, please let us know though!

I have seen a few here and there, but it always just a small group. Not anything official from WDW- just a church group using the campfire area for a private service.

I believe that there used to be Catholic and Protestant services every Sunday in the Luau Cove at the Polynesian Resort, but those were stopped a while back.

Thanks...I took it in January...the 8th I think...right as we checked in...butterflies galore!

The sneaker tree is no an offcial Disney tradition and is not approved by Disney as I understand it. They periodically clean all the sneakers off and then more just mysteriously appear.

• I was snapping photos of the items decorating the Meadow Trading post, and noticed the light fixtures.

Wow- I have been in there about a thousand times, and never noticed the light fixtures. Also, I have never really paid attention to what is up there in the rafters- look at all that stuff!!!!

Both the close-up photo of the light fixture, and the one that shows the scene are great!
