Tony- Great photos, as usual! :thumbsup2

I have been thinking about working on a little project on my next visit to the Fort. I want to try to take photos of places where some of the old photos that occasionally turn up were taken.

So, a question for you: Do you have any idea where the three totem poles and big FW sign that are in the first photo in your signature were located? I know that there was a sign like this at the drive through check in lanes. But, where was this other sign? I don't see any buildings or other landmarks in the photo. Do you have any idea?

That sounds like a great project!! I don't know where they were. I have seen other photos of them, and it always seemed to me that they were up front, close to check in. Things have changed so much since the early days, and I, sadly, was not there to see them. I recently found this photo of the check in from way back, that shows the sign I believe you are referring to.

Yes, taken last week. They had the area open a few days and then blocked off for a few days?? Bathrooms are in use back that way too.

Here is a perfect spot for a new counter service!

Wow! I know someone else had mentioned activity back there recently. Great pictures!

Isn't that the area they use before you go into the BBQ? We had dinner last Thursday at the BBQ and they had games for the kids to play, and handed out wine, beer and drinks for the kids while we were waiting, and that looks like the area we were waiting in.

Yes, they are using this area for that now! It recently opened...it was still closed off in September.

It was very peaceful back there...they just need to add some speakers for background music.

Sonya- nice job on the River County pictures. Did you know that you can see some of the old slides if you stand on the rocks, or that you can take photos by slipping your hand and camera through some of the openings in the gates?

I know someone who has some photos like that.;)

LOL, Dh was up on those rocks! We got some pretty good shots of the slides and the pool...but I wont still any thunder! ;)

It sure would be nice to have a pool in this area wouldn't it??

Haven't read thru all the pages yet, but what is this building??

It once was located on a camping loop and was another option for guests. Now it seems to have a utility use and sits way out east of the beach and Marina, back near the old Swamp Trail area.

Isn't that the building that they also used as a "prop" for the haunted carriage ride?

I miss the peacocks! :sad2:

When we stayed in the 300 loop in 2004 we usually took the back trail to get over to the trading post/marina and there were dozens of them everywhere. They would walk along the path with you like it was their job. One time we saw a bunch of them all perched in the branches of a tree. So cool...

What happened to them? Did they remove all the peacocks? :sad2:

Look behind the peacock at the boy who fell into the rail - probably after taking his eyes off the sidewalk and watching the show-off bird :rotfl:

That's not the reason they removed the birds as much as they could be quite noisy and had the tendency to chase people - particularly the little guys :lmao:

Beautiful picture!! I take it the peacocks are all gone now??

What wonderful pictures!! I'm so excited for our stay, despite being over a year away!!! Can't wait to see more pictures over the next 380+ days!! :thumbsup2
