Picture of the Day - Chatter Thread

Tony, thank you so very much for your pix, they really give me my Fort fix. :goodvibes

Great perspective of whatever the heck that is...very cool!....um, .....what is it, by the way?

I actually got inside the old windmill tower at the stable and pointed the camera up.

Tony, I really enjoy your pictures too! Honestly, I did not even realize this was an old windmill tower!!! :thumbsup2 I learn something new everyday on the boards!

Chris,
Great pics,,how was the cruise ?

Shan-man,
Not gonna be there at xmas, but those pics are in style anytime of year.:thumbsup2

Now I know what that sliding window between Crockett's Tavern and Burl's Porch is for.

I've never seen it set up like this before! We've ordered drinks at the window many times...but I've never seen someone outside of the window like this! Cool! :thumbsup2

yeh it was like that last week. I wanted to go in and have a mudslide in the cool tavern a/c and she said it was closed but i was welcome to go to the outside bar for one. what tavern closes at 8:30? it was either 8:30 or 9:30 but it was still waaaaaaaay too early to be closing a tavern on a saturday night!

The cruise was fantastic, absolutely worth it. I wish we had done it sooner. Nassau I could do with out though, we weren't impressed. Castaway Cay on the other hand, we decided we could live there. Now DW and I want to do a 7-day cruise. I don't know if we can swing it for next year but definitely the following year. I have plenty of pictures located here if you'd like to take a look.

That's cool, and what a fantastic idea. The tavern really does close too early. When we were there in April, they only had the window open at certain times and also only when a certain bartender was working (I can't think of his name...but dh would know). We ordered a drink one evening through the window and then the next evening they told dh to come inside...they said that they only have the window open when "so-and-so" is working. Dh complained about this on his survey (haha)...and now he say's this new stand is because of his survey! :rotfl: (maybe his and countless others)

That is true. I guess he's hard to spot. I had to wait for a large burst of fireworks to try to backlight him somewhat. I was using an LED flashlight. It casts a wide beam not a concentrated, directional beam.

wait, who is hard to spot? i don't see where someone guessed that. i see something there in the water though.

I took the pic into Photoshop and brightened it way, way, WAY up and I can almost make out what might be the shape of an otter silhouette, maybe. Is that the right answer? :confused3 I'd have never seen it as is. High tech to the rescue! ;)

Are you referring to the glowing eyeball in the middle of the picture. Is it a gator?

Sorry, Donna. I'm not very good at playing this game. After I posted the pic I thought it might be too hard to spot so that's why I said that. I was just trying to give an obvious clue.

Ding, ding, ding. Yes, it was a gator. I think I spent more time watching him than I did the fireworks. He/she wasn't too far offshore from where I was standing and I had these horrible pics in my head of getting attacked. All this was precipitated by a conversation I had with one of the Lake Patrol guys earlier that day who was fishing in the area. A few weeks prior he ran up against a gator on the far side of the lake that was almost as big as the 21' Boston Whaler he was in.

maaaaaaaaan......I really dont think I can last over a year before I get back to the fort!!!
