Picture of Grand Floridian truffles box with picture?

LadyTrampScamp&Angel, the castle on the plate looks lovely with the pixie dust and Tinker Bell flying above it. And those truffles look exactly like what we've been served at Victoria & Albert's after dinner. If they are, then they are indeed scrumptious. Yum!

Thank you for sharing the photograph.

As to the question regarding the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Polynesian, and the other resorts, if they are Deluxe Resorts and have Room Service, please contact them to see what is available for ordering. They probably have some lovely treats on their Room Service menus that would please most folks.

If you’re staying in a resort that does not have Room Service, then contact the Disney Florist to see what goodies can be put together for an in-room surprise. If you look back at Page 1 of this thread, you'll find two photo links that I shared of gift baskets from the Disney Florist.

For anyone wanting to a special chocolate treat that doesn't require concierge, in-room dining, or lots of $$$ - here is a picture of a chocolate box of chocolates DW brought home for me from WDW a couple years ago (I'm a chocolate fiend). She thinks she picked it up in DTD, either at WOD or the Pooh store for between $15 and $20.

Okay, Snurk71, that's it. I'm crying, "Uncle!" I now have to head to the store to buy the largest chocolate bar that I can find (and my hips will be blaming you ;) ).

I agree, Janet! I'm so hungry reading this thread. Between the dining plan, concierge, and planning some surprises (still haven't decided), I'm going to weigh 500 pounds when I get home!;)

Don't worry, Triplefigs, I'm going to get even with Snurk71. Stay tuned... ;)

Snurk71, since you said you liked to get things from the Grand Floridian for your significant other, have you ever considered the chocolate champagne bottle and flutes? My husband and I were surprised with them last year during our Fairy Tale Weddings vow renewal vacation:

Everything was entirely made out of chocolate. It was divine. ~Hiccup!~

Janet, do you know how much these were? Would my kids like the truffles, or are they "grown-up"? Do you think PD would do those dirt bowls you had at your dessert party for just 3 kids? They don't like all the fancy stuff. They prefer vanilla wafers and oreos!

Triplefigs, I honestly have no idea how much the chocolate champagne bottle & flutes cost, and since they were gifts, I don't know how to order them. My guess is that the Concierge should be able to answer both of those questions for you. All I can tell you is that the items were truly a wonderful surprise. We were deeply touched by this beautifully, sweet gesture on the part of the Cast Members who gave us the most ~magical~ night of our lives.

Now, if your kids love chocolate, they will love breaking the champagne flutes into bite-size pieces. If I remember correctly, the chocolate champagne bottle was thicker and thus harder to break. As to the chocolate truffles, they were rich and decedent. If your kids like rich flavors, they will love the truffles (if they don't, that means more chocolates for you and your husband).

It doesn’t hurt to ask Private Dining if they could whip up some Dirt Cups for your children. If they can't, then they have some wonderful cookies that you may order instead. On the night that the Grand Floridian delivered that large box of chocolates to my room, they surprised my children with glasses of milk and a plate of cookies. You can see the milk and cookies in the background of this photo: click here. (The cookies look dark in that photo but they weren’t.) If memory serves me correctly, Private Dining has the following varieties of cookies: chocolate chip, oatmeal, and sugar (they probably have other varieties, too).

Private Dining also has ice cream sundaes on their menu. I ordered an ice cream sundae and chocolate chip cookies for my daughter during one of our private events two years ago. I have a photo to share of it: click here. The photo doesn’t show it very well but there was a small dish of sprinkles sitting to the right of the ice cream sundae. My daughter had fun adding those sprinkles to her ice cream.

You could also ask Private Dining if they carry the Disney character cookies. I don’t know if they do, but the Disneyland Hotel in California sent a plate of Mickey Mouse character cookies to our room one evening when my son was a youngster. Those cookies were adorable and a big hit with him. I would definitely ask the Grand Floridian’s Private Dining folks if they carry the Disney character cookies.

One final thought before I close. What about the Cinderella’s Slipper dessert? I know that the children at my Summerhouse party loved chowing down on the slippers, especially my own daughter. If you haven’t done so already, please consider enjoying the slipper dessert with your family at some point during your vacation. It really is a fun and scrumptious dessert.

I hope all this helped. I may not know how to cook, but I certainly know how to eat fun foods & desserts. ;)

You all are making me want to add a few nights at the GF Concierge! Janet, the champagne and flutes look wonderful! I think I have read that you stayed in the main building, is that correct? I was thinking I'd try Sugar Loaf, but don't know a lot about it. Do they have drinks (wine/beer) with night time snacks? And if I set up something like the champagne would it be there when we arrived? DH is in the AirForce and will be leaving us for a year starting the end of Feb (we may get to live with him the last 6 or so months...not sure) so this is a very important trip for us.

OK, and I have to ask a stupid question...was there champagne in that chocolate bottle? :rotfl:

Okay TripleFigs....you got the penny....now...you are leaving sooner than I am and we don't know a THING about what surprises you have planned....I am slightly upset with you now :)

Briarmom....according to Janet2K the bottle is hollow chocolate but pretty heavy. But if you are staying concierge I think I read someplace they are adding champagne in the evening....interesting...

Now...how do we all get together to get Janet2K a tag naming her the GF Goddess? Really it's not like we would be begging for ourselves...

I need to call PD and get some pricing going, huh? I think I'm leaning towards the chocolate box or the chocolate champagne flutes (since it is our anniversary). For the kids I'm going to ask about the slipper and the dirt cups or cookies.

Briarmom, staying in a concierge room can oftentimes make for a very lovely vacation. But you don't need to do that in order to have a memorable vacation, all you need is the proper attitude (one of fun, silliness, and adventure). It doesn't matter where you stay when you have the proper attitude. Of course, I adore the Grand Floridian and have had some very memorable stays there (silly & sentimental). If I could follow my heart's desire on every vacation, I would be living at that place, ~sigh.~ I'd actually set up a bed out on the pool deck since hanging out at the pool is my favorite thing to do at the Grand (but I don't think they'd ever allow me to do that, drats).

Yes, for my last two Grand Floridian stays, I was in the Main Building. The Grand Floridian actually put me in the last room on the hallway that overlooked the Marina. For my Fairy Tale Weddings vacation, I was on the 3rd floor. For my Summer vacation, I was directly one floor above that room on the 4th floor. Being in the last room made for wonderful peace and quiet since there was truly no foot traffic outside of our room. Part of me wondered if the Grand did that because we were such a fun-loving family and they didn't want us bothering their other guests. Nah, the Grand would never do that. ;)

If you check out the GF FAQ thread here on the Dis, I mentioned in it a few weeks ago that my daughter & I went on a spy mission to the Sugar Loaf building during our Summer vacation. She took photos of the late night food & beverage offerings. I shared those photos in the GF FAQ thread. I'll share them here, too: click here. The photos should give you an idea as to what the new late-night offerings are like.

If you arranged for in-room surprises to be waiting for your family, the Grand Floridian is pretty good about making sure that happens. (Of course, mix-ups occur since people are human, so be prepared with a backup plan just in case.)

Please tell your husband that I sincerely appreciate the sacrifices that he is making for our country. I’ll keep him (and the rest of our Service People) in my prayers.

Remember, there are no stupid/silly questions here on the Dis. Questions need to be asked, and then they need to be answered. If you’re wondering about something, you can bet that someone else is, too.

In regards to your last question, like my sidekick (a.k.a., Meezers) mentioned, the champagne bottle was hollow. When I first saw it, I assumed that it was a bottle that had been coated in chocolate because I have seen that done before. However, the Grand Floridian’s champagne bottle was nothing but chocolate (no glass bottle, no liquid refreshment). It took a bit of force on my part to prove that to myself. I had to push pretty hard on the champagne bottle in order to break it free from the piece of marble that it was set upon (the marble slab can be seen in this photo). The base of the bottle actually stayed stuck to the marble and that is how I discovered that the champagne bottle was made of nothing but chocolate.

I hope this helped.

Unfortunately, DW isn't into chocolate (I know - sacriledge). So most of the GF things I pick up for her are not edible.

It's not pretty, but here are a couple of other chocolate surprises DW has given to me over the past couple years.

And that's not even the largest chocolate bar that I know of. At work, we sell a 10 lb chocolate bar.

Snurk71, you're killin' me. "That's not even the largest chocolate bar that I know of. At work, we sell a 10 lb chocolate bar." Oh, my goodness! :worship: <-- That's the first time I used that worship thingie.

By the way, your wife sounds like my husband. He isn't into chocolate, only white chocolate (which isn't really chocolate). That's fine with me because it means more chocolate for me (of course, I have to fight the kids off with a stick for that chocolate - the kids definitely take after my side of the family).

Thank you Janet! We certainly have a fun loving attitude (especially when at WDW) and this trip will be no exception. :)

I love reading all the info you have posted on these boards. Thanks for taking the time to do so.

I'm a sidekick.....do I get a cool costume and mask?

This picture doesn't do it justice (this is a scanned picture long before I had a digital camera), but it's all I have access to right now.

The thing sitting in my lap is a 5 lb chocolate Mickey head. You can't see the details of the face in this picture, but it was molded with pretty good facial outlines.

I don't think they do these any more in chocolate (I think they might still do rice crispies). This is from the spring of 99 - main street confectioners. I think it might have only cost $15 back then.
