What were some of your favorites, or your kids/grandkids' favorites?

I loved In the Night Kitchen and Where the Wild Things Are, both by Maurice Sendak.

One of my favorite books growing up (yeah, I'm old) was Alexander and the Magic Mouse.

I've never head of the holiday but every day is a good day to read to kids. A couple of my favorites were Harry the Dirty Dog and Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel. Also Katie and the Big Snow.

I'm told I loved "The Pokey Little Puppy" and "Are You My Mother?" when I was little:



DS loved "10 Little Mice" and an Usborne pop-up book about Dragons:

Where the Wild Things Are,

love this book! I have a t-shirt with one of the illustrations on it and get comments from people of all ages about their fond memories of the book

from my childhood-

the snowy day
whistle for willie
bread and jam for frances
bedtime for frances
amelia bedilia....

from MY kid's-

rainbow fish
click, clack, moo-cows that type
lots of berenstain bears and little monster books.

Sendak was a final jeopardy answer....no one answered correctly...he couldn't draw horses

....who illustrated those complex miniature scene books before Waldo that used the same color scheme as Bernstein

As a little girl I loved picture books and my favorite series was the Little Critter series because they were so funny and I had almost every Little Critter book made. I do remember Richard Scarry books because he had a cartoon show on Nick Jr. and the Busytown books were cute but sadly he died in 1995 but Richard Scarry picture books were adorable. You mentioned a book called Katy And The Big Snow? What's that story about? Is Katy supposed to be a snowplow and what does she do? I do believe Virginia Lee Burton also wrote a story called Choo Choo The Runaway Engine as well
