Pics of the Kidani pool thread!!!

I was fortunate enough to be at the "Open Mouse" at Kidani this morning!:goodvibes I have some great pool pics that I will post when I can - no time with all the relaxing we have been doing....:)

Anyway, some thought on the pool and pool area:

  • The pool is much smaller than the Jambo House pool, but I can't, off the top of my head, think of another pool on property (not including SAB) that is as big as the Jambo pool - so perhaps not a valid comparison.
  • The area is stunning! I can't say enough about how classy the entire pool/water play area is. Someone mentioned the landscaping - I really believe it will be beautiful once it grows in.
  • The kids water play area will be very popular. It's creatively developed with lots of neat features.
  • While the area is classified as a "water park" it should not be mistaken for TL, BB, or SAB.....but it will be a great perk of staying at AKV.
  • The pool slide looks great! I would guess it is twice as long as the Jambo slide, and much more fun. Kind of a corkscrew shape.....

A few other non-pool notes:

  • It does look possible to walk between Kidani and Jambo - It was not an option today as there is still construction going on. For those that like to walk or jog it will actually be a nice addition to AKL. The walk is actually pretty nicely landscaped and isn't just walking along a roadway on a sidewalk....
  • There is a mug refill station in the gift shop off of the lobby. I did not notice about the pool bar (sorry....we were pressed for time at that point).
  • The overall resort seems to really be designed with savannah views in mind - from all of the public areas it seems you have incredible savannah views - some much better than anything Jambo offers.

I would be happy to answer any questions about what I saw this morning.... Again, sorry about no pics, but that will happen eventually......:)

All in all we can't wait to stay there next year!

Thanks, nhdisfan! Great and thorough review! November can't come soon enough. :thumbsup2

I am wondering about the grocery area of the gift shop. I don't get everything I need there, as I use Garden Grocer, but was wondering how it will compare with OKW. OKW has the biggest and best selection of all the DVC resorts.

Add me to the list of wishing the landscaping looked a little more lush and "African" ? Maybe the photos don't do it justice ? I will be staying at VWL in early May and will make my way over to Kidani to check it out. The one view taken "from" the pool area of the lobby check-in area is a bit of a disappointment too. Nothing like distracting from the ambience of a supposedly themed pool and watching cars and busses pull up ? Again....maybe it's just a perception from these pics and I'm not seeing the whole layout correctly ?

I was also dismayed that the CM who toured made reference to the fact that the gift shop is just so-so. With no CS restaurant, I was really hoping and depending on the fact that there would be a good variety of grocery type items---a tiny sampling of quick service food ? My kids love Mara and being able to run down even if to pick up some zebra domes from the refrigerated case and bring them back up to the room.

Sounds real nice!

Can't WAIT FOR SOME PICS!!!!

Can't wait for next yr to try! The corkscrew slide sounds AWESOME!!!!!!!!:banana::banana::banana::banana:

Overall I think the resort looks great. I know some were afraid that corners would be cut to save money, but I don't see any real evidence of that in the photos. Looks very high-quality and consistent with the Jambo designs.

May look at staying there in 2010. :)

I agree...From the pictures I've seen the decorations and artwork in the public spaces look AMAZING!

Looks like the new "circular" sunset savanna is going to be breathtaking.

Those pool pictures at allears are much better than ones posted by others before and now the pool and pool area is looking real impressive.

I can't stop looking at the pics. I'm so excited! I don't think I'm going to be able to wait another 70+ days.

Only 64 more days and we will experience Kidani in person.:cool1: We can't wait! The more pictures and info come out, the more I don't think we are going to be disappointed in our new home. :thumbsup2

I took a ton of pics Wednesday and will post when we get back next week.

A couple of things:

There is a drink dispenser for mugs in the gift shop - with mugs available!
Sanaa's view is amazing!!!!!!!!!!
The pool area is awesome. Yes, the landscaping is still being worked on - but had my 7 year old been in his bathing suit - he would have been totally soaked. He was thrilled with the play area!

80 days here... (yea, my counter's off as we rescheduled & didn't want to start over)

I'd post 80 of :surfweb::surfweb::surfweb::surfweb: but think I'd get tagged for points.

Has anyone found a video of the resort pool & walkways yet? I'd love to see how they connect up.

Between the pics here and on Jack's blog DW and I are so happy that we are AKV owners. It looks incredible, as advertised.
