Maybe they should bring the old tower down?

No- not the giant toaster! How will we remember what we want to make for breakfast in our spacious villa kitchen without the toaster there to remind us?

/kidding- I like the Contemporary, but when it comes to Disney, I'm easy to please

I thought that too, but I worry that what if somebody really big sits on it, or my kids jump on it and it cracks away from the wall?

Just what is the maximum weight capacity on those things, I wonder....

Commodes are always constructed to bear 100% more than normal usage would require. There is no way to correctly calculate the weight of the user, plus the weight of the deposit. :rolleyes1

Right, but that's a totally different kind of toilet, I've never seen one sticking out from the wall before without a pedestal to rest most of the weight on. And the weight is a direct weight perpendicular to the floor, with hte wall mounted one you've got, agh, what's that, sheering force? to deal with where the bolts holding it in to the wall have the downward pressure along their length to deal with as well as the pulling force.

What would you bolt it to?

In most Target's or WalMart's or whatever's, most commodes are wall mounted, with no vertical strut. The are mounted to special plates inside the wall. It is quite possible that these units have some sort of reinforcing system inside the China casting. As someone else mentioned, they are wall hung for ease of cleaning. :thumbsup2

Well, here's the post from rinkwide:

"I wouldn't have expected someone like you to have booked and sold it on eBay for $15 per point. :rolleyes1

But more power to you if you can get it. :rolleyes1 "

From my pov it was pretty obnoxious.

Was it the truth?

I didnt read this whole thread... but it seems the new VCR will be a tall building... same hieght as the CR.... interesting.

Totally agree with flipping it around!!!!

I could see DVC doing 2 point structures for it.....

Now... as much as it interests me, we are capped out on points, and would have to sell some in order to buy there.... Not sure if we want to monkey around with that... and what are points now?? 100 pp.... ouch

7 month window here we come!!!

First of all, let me say I have ZERO interest in a VCR! I do think this design fits the theme of the Contemporary, but I also think it is going to be a booking nightmare!!! Everyone will want to stay in the rooms that face the castle, and with the "C" shape, there wont be a lot of those. It does look like all the balconys will be on the inside of the circle. Could that mean that the building is only one unit deep? And why would the balcony be away from the view? This does not look like anywhere I would ever be interested in staying. It's a high rise hotel, nothing more, nothing less.

That's pretty much how I feel about the Contemporary Resort, today. However, the resort does have its fans, Diane.

I was out of town the last two days and noticed that the commentary seems to have drifted from pictures of the new DVC project to pictures of toilets and commentary on how to attach them to walls. I realize that these are really nice pictures of toilets, done with charm and a certain French sophistication :artist: (bidets - kind of look like the water fountains in my son's middle school). I realize that there are many DVCers much more in the know than me, me being just a bumbling "try and fix your own stuff" type of guy.

However, I've never really gravitated to the bathroom unless there was a reason to go in there. I guess there are certain features of DVC rooms that some get really excited about.

Me, I just want a nice bed to collapse into after a day in the parks.

We just bought a small contract @ BWV via resale exactly for this reason.

I personally prefer the bay view as opposed to the MK view, so the "C" design will be a home run for us.

If CRV becomes available, we will be 1st in line to do a large add-on to our small contract. Fingers crossed that we will be CRV owners in 2008! Saving our pennies now, just in case.

As a side note, how quickly do you think the contracts for CRV would sell out? Some people speculating 1-2 years, I would think it will be much quicker than that..just wondering

That is probably right although I bet it is sold out inside of 1.5 years. I figure 25% will be sold to DVCers in the first two -three months based on this thread, unless DVC requires a minumum purchase that exceeds what most want to buy.

The real question is what will the points cost? I bet at least $100-$110 per point. And they will get it. DVC since you read all this, please widen the angle of the building another 30 degrees so the inside balconies don't have to look directly at each other.

VCR we have to come up with a better abbrv. I keep thinking we are discussing old video equipment.

I have no interest of this location either. I find the AKL location more appealing. Heard a new comment from a Disney management CM today that the AKL villas will happen before the Contemporary and they will be built to the left of the existing resort. :thumbsup2
