Picnic table styles - what is on what type of site these days?

Can we talk picnic tables?

I'm pretty sure the premiums all have those square styles (that I personally don't care for), what about preferred, full, and partial these days? Do the other sites still have normal picnic tables?

Last time we were there, they had the standard (rectangular) picnic tables.

I am with you. I don't really care much for the square ones. It's funny because they are a "PERK" for the Premium sites. I'd be more "Perked" with a newer and standard picnic table. Just my preference though.

Thanks Paul! Yeah, totally not a "perk" for me, just kind of awkward!

They are scattered. In 2014 I started the trip off in Little Bear loop (premium) which had older rectangular table and I moved to the outside of Big Bear (also premium) and it had a square table.

Noticed last trip in 900 that the site across from me had a rectangular table while most of the others were square shaped.

Our first trip to the fort was supposed to be in a Premium loop. We got put in the 300 Loop (Pet loop too as we had our Yellow Lab). We ended up not pulling into the fort until dark. Despite the challenges of setup in the dark, we were just read to relax so we didn't really do much of an "Inspection" of the site. Next day was a "Park" day, so also not much of a site inspection until later in the day. The DW commented that the Picnic table was kind of shabby (well weathered) when it was advertised as an "Upgraded" picnic table and grill. We weren't impressed by either. After walking around a bit we realized we were NOT in a premium site. (we were Fort Newbies at this point, but quick learners).

Anyway, I liked the non-wood picnic tables (to a point) but I wasn't a huge fan of the square ones. I also have to say that "upgraded" grill really didn't do much for me either

I've biked thru the "full" loops (1600, 1700, 1800, 1900) this week and only see the older, rectangular type.

I'm in the minority. I like the square table. You can see everyone! Good for game play too!

Eh, maybe I should try to be more open minded about them when we have one next. Our summer reservation is for a Preferred, though, so I'm thinking we'll have the standard kind :)

I've seen some site pics over the years showing the old tables and the boards are so warped on some of them I don't know how they keep their drinks from spilling.

How big are the square tables?
I guess if they are only on the preferred loops, we don't have to worry in our pop-up but i would like to know that all 5 of us would fit at one table to eat.

We like the square tables. Easier to clean (since they are not wood), and the seats clean up nice so you are not sitting on leftover grease seats. Can play board or card games better than rectangle table with humps and lumps.

The only drawback is the stupid plaque in the center of the table that's raised and says "do not feed wildlife".

Oh yeah, I forgot about that! And we use a table cloth (which doesn't fit well on the squares), so the plaque was hidden under that - more than one drink was spilled because of that stupid thing.
