My husband and I are kind of new DVC owners and are going to OKW in a few weeks by ourselves. I was thinking of a romantic picnic somewhere. :lovestruc Have any of you ever done this before? Help me out with where to get a picnic basket--it would have to be onsite since we will not have a car, and where to picnic. Any ideas? Thanks!

Finally, something new on the board. I just wish I knew the answers. :confused3

I am sure you're gonna get plenty of help on this.... :)

I sure hope so. I am so excited about this trip and wanted to do something a little different. I hope someone has done a picnic before and can tell me all about it!!

If you are going to have a picnic, you need some grass to put the blanket down. There is the grassy area at the Boardwalk. My son and I played catch there a couple of years ago. The beach at the Beach Club is also an idea - or at the Contemporary. Any other patches of grass around WDW? I bet that if you ask at the guest services desk, they can find a picnic basket for you.
This is an interesting topic...

How about the grassy area between Narcoose's and one of the GF buildings. ...That area right next to the water that looks out over the MK and the Contemporary?

Narcoose's is only open for dinner - so there wouldn't/shouldn't be that much "activity" over in that area earlier in the day.

yeah the GF has a lot of possibilities. Theres a path that goes all the way from the GF to the wedding pavilion, it winds under the monorail for a time, then has some grassy areas on one side and the beach on the other.

that beach is usually very empty-you have the GF off to one side and the wedding pavilion off to the other and the lake in front

the only deterant for some would be the monorail-but I happen to love that.

we had some of our wedding pictures taken on that beach

Thought maybe I had spoken to soon, but now we're talking... this sounds like romantic possibilities! Never been to the GF (not sure I would fit in), but I am sure they keep their grass green. Hoping you get more great suggestions. MikeBW is right. I am sure GS has had this request/question before. C'mon people, give this lady some more ideas.

We had a lovely picnic on the Lagoon in a Canopy Boat from Wilderness Lodge.

We have also done just champagne snuggled into a beach chair for the Electrical Water Pageant at the Poly and WL.

Lots of spots for romance in the World!

OKW and BWV have picnic tables next to the outside grills. I though all the DVC resorts did this?

there are also picnic tables at FW.

Great ideas for some nice spots. Now, is there a place onsite where I can either order a picnic basket or make my own? Thanks for the great ideas--keep them coming! ;)

Since you will be at OKW, you could call the resort and see if Olivia's will make up a basket. :confused3
Staying with OKW, you might consider going past the main pool and have your picnic along the Trumbo Canal. :)
Or..
You could head out past the South Point Pool on the DTD path. Nice grassy area and only the occasional walker or Trumbo Ferry. Fairly secluded.

wl/vwl use to do a picnic lunch in a basket - but they quit that years ago.
sorry! it was on the room service menu. it was cute - it came with a plastic table cover (which you could use to sit on)

Does anyone else have any more thoughts or ideas? I will definitely call Olivia's and see if they can make up a basket. Does anyone know if any of the other resorts will do this? Thanks!

There is a poster on the DIS that delivers gift baskets to WDW. Perhaps she could offer something.

I can't think of her name right now. I think she posts frequently on the Theme Park Attractions and Strategies board. Does anybody know who I am referring to?

I will poke around and see if I can dig up her name.

I just found her by doing a search on "fire" :rotfl: I remember that she posted to a thread a couple of months ago about a fire on Epcot property. I can't believe that worked.

Anyway, her DIS name is Feralpeg

Good luck!!
