"Picnic in the Park"-the latest

I've seen some people asking if the Picnic in the Park at AK still exists, so when I saw this there 2 weeks ago, I had to note it. There's a store on the pathway between Discovery Island, by Flame Tree BBQ, and Asia-I admit that I don't remember the store's name, but it's on the right as you face Asia. The food offerings are all prepackaged, in refrigerated coolers, and it seems that you make up the ingredients for the picnic in the park yourself, and then find a place around the park to sit and eat.

The store is called Beastly Bazaar.

When guests ask about the "Picnic in the Park" they mostly want to know about the previous incarnation of this offering - the pre-ordered picnic that came with rotisserie chicken and hot or cold sides. That has not been offered since the end of 2009.

What the OP posted is the way the picnic has been offered since 2010, in a grab-and-go format featuring sandwiches, chips and desserts. No chicken, or hot and cold sides.

OP, did you happen to notice what types of sandwiches there were? In particular I'm interested if there's a vegetarian option (cheese is ok) but in general, it sounds like a good option for us in December. My friends and I are just plain ol' sandwich people and it's amazingly hard to find just a cold cut sandwich in the parks! (ETA: Found a picture somewhere and looks as if they DO have a veg option, of course it's mushrooms which I can't eat lol. Interested to know your experience, though!)

Thanks, Nala. I also found this site, which is a little more specific and has some photos. Between all of the allergies in our group, I'm realizing that prepackaged sandwiches are probably a long shot anyways... sure would have been nice to have a grab and go option available, though, lol!
