Picnic in the park at Animal Kingdom

Has anyone done this with a large group? Are the sides a decent size? We have a party of 7 but I noticed the prices only go to 6. Can you pay a fee for another person? We have dining plan but 2 in group are kids so if I understand what i've read we would need to order with 2 extra adult credits to cover them. Or is there enough food for everyone if we just did say the 5 person meal on our 5 adult credits? Any info would be great...can you add additional sides for a cost? TIA!!!!!

We just did picnic in the park last week for our family of 4, we ordered the chicken wraps with 2 sided (mac & cheese-mashed potatos) you get a total of 4 sides (2 of each side) when you order 4 sandwiches the sides are large and we did not finish the mashed potatos. I felt the price was good we used the 4 counter credits for this lunch and would do it again. I think you maybe OK with 4 sandwiches if you have 2 smaller childern, the only thing we wish was better were the water bottles you get are on the small side, so we had to use a couple of snack credits for 2 extra larger waters. Enjoy the lunch we did

How do you do the picnic in the park? Do you have to sign up for it? Where is it located?

During our visit last week we did not participate in the picnic in the park. What I did notice was people not eating camped out at the picnic tables they have placed all over the park for people to eat their picnic. People that did have meals to eat were looking for a place to sit and were out of luck when people were using the picnic tables as a rest stop and not moving along.

so even though it says 2 sides you actually get 4..they just can only be 2 choices? Did you use 4 adult counter service credits or did they take 2 of the kids credits? thank you for the information!!!!

Adult credits only, regardless how many kids are involved.

The order location for Picnic in the Park has moved to the counter outside the Island Mercantile store in Discovery Island.� This new, permanent location is now the one and only spot to order picnic baskets at Disney's Animal Kingdom. The pickup location remains at the Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery in Africa. Picnics can be ordered until 1:30 p.m. daily.

As of June 27, 2009, Picnic In The Park has expanded to offer meals for two.

Tier 1 - Meal for Two
$17.99 + tax

Tier 2 - Meal for Two

As of April 7, 2009, Disney's Animal Kingdom began offering a new meal program called Picnic in the Park. As part of this program, you are able to purchase a meal for the family packaged in an "Every Tree Has Character" reusable bag, which can then be taken to one of a number of picnic spots throughout the park. Plates and utensils are provided. Meals include a choice of entrees, side dishes, desserts, and water. There are two tiers available:

Tier 1 features a chicken wrap, ham grinder, tuna pita, turkey focaccia sandwich, or portobello mushroom and vegetable wrap (vegetarian option), with pricing starting at $17.99 plus tax for a meal for two.

Meal for Three – $24.99 + tax

Place your order at the Picnic in the Park podium located at the Island Mercantile shop on Discovery Island, between 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. daily.

Pick-up time needs to be at least two hours from the time the order is placed, and you'll need to bring the copy of the order form as confirmation. The pick-up location is at Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery.

Payment is due at time of the order. If you're on the Disney Dining Plan, Picnic in the Park may be used as a Quick Service Meal (requires one adult entitlement per meal amount). For example, a meal for three will require three adult entitlements.

did you have to order all 4 of the same sandwich or could you get more than 1 kind? what size would you say the sides are...like a pint of ice cream each...or larger? sorry for all the questions!!!!
