Picky, Picky, PICKY Eaters....Bring snacks?

I'm an old pro at visiting Disney as a child (twice a year, every year, for nearly a decade of family vacations) - but this October, I'll be traveling under my official title of "Mommy". Gone are the days where I could just be endlessly excited and not have a care in the world beyond "are we there yet???".

So - my boys are ages 4 and 2. The 2 year old is training for the Picky Eater Olympics. I'm too embarrassed to type out the 12 (yes, 12) food items he will eat, but suffice it to say, none of them are served at Disney restaurants. He's not even a 'normal' picky eater who'll do the usual junk - chicken fingers/nuggets, fries, hotdogs, burgers. He's sort of a high-end picky eater. But anyway.

I've read warnings that Disney doesn't allow you to bring in food. What are the chances that I'll be able to sneak in some snacks for him? Or is that one of the rules that nobody wants to enforce?

Actually, you are allowed to bring food and drinks into WDW. Just no glass and no huge rolling coolers. Also no straws at AK. Other than that you are good to go. I have read that some people take in small coolers with sandwiches etc. I have only taken in a variety of snacks for DD - goldfish crackers, granola bars, etc and water bottles.

Really? That rocks! I don't plan on bringing enough to feed an army - just enough so we don't have any low-blood-sugar grouchiness ruining my vacation, lol.

Thanks so much! :cheer2:

Bring whatever you want. They don't get upset. I have done it every time I went. I know there are some people who bring entire meals so they can save money. If it makes you feel any better the kids menus are very typical food that kids will eat. Mac and cheese, chicken fingers, hot dogs. They are pretty basic for even the pickier eaters. Mine is not he best eater either and I never had a hard time getting her to eat something on the menu.

I have the same situation as you, pretty much. My ds is 16 months and not kidding, he only eats Chicken Fries (made by Schwans), french fries, cheerios and pizzelles. We have tried giving him everything and anything under the sun...but he refuses. It doesn't help that he has food allergies, too (peanuts, milk, eggs and tree nuts) -- so we are limited in things we can offer, too. He often cries to try granola bars, but they are all packaged in plants that package peanut products...so no go.

Looks like I'll be bringing lots of cheerios with me! I'm hoping I can tempt his taste buds at the various restaurants that have buffets. Maybe he'll eat some fruit! LOL.

Good luck with your little one!

There wouldn't be a problem. I've taken a small cooler with bottled water, soda, sandwiches, and other snacks. Security even joked about sharing some of it with them.:rotfl:

Us too, we always bring a lunchbag size cooler with frozen apple juice, which defrosts as the day progresses, cheese sticks, gogurt, cold grapes and canned oranges. Plus our regular "diaper bag" had all the usual cheese its, goldfish, gummies. Security never stopped us, but it just took us longer to get through.
