Picky Kid Eaters

I have a very picky DD9 and am thinking that at some of the places we will be eating I'll have to get her a counter serve before we go eat (doesn't even like the kid menu options). Question 1. Can I use her table service credit for a counter service meal (we will be using all counter service meal
credits for lunch)? Question 2. Will the resteraunt allow us to bring her counter service meal in?

Thank you in advance.

Hmm. Not sure about the TS to QS question. Seems like it would be a waste of $$.

I'm wondering what TS locations you will be eating at? Most of the kid menus have a very similar menu to the QS locations....chicken nuggets, pasta, pizza etc. Buffets are a good option for picky eaters too.

Good luck! Mom of a picky eater too :)

I agree on the waste of money but I'd rather her have something to eat at dinner than hear the whining...lol. Also don't want to have to pay out of pocket if I can help it.

Places so far that I don't see options (at least none listed on AllEars menus) for her are Ohana, Liberty Tavern, Teppan Edo.

If you bring her to Ohana she will be charged as if she were eating even if she doesn't eat anything and you bring food in. Same for any AYCTE places.

Are you having lunch or dinner at the Liberty Tree? If it is dinner, again, you will be charged for anyone sitting at the table.

The problem with bringing food in is that it will most likely be cold by the time they get to eat it. You are not always sat very promptly for your meals, even with ADRs. It is much simpler just to feed the picky one ahead of time.

At nine, most kids are able to sit and be good company while others eat. Consider feeding her before your ADR and let her know that she's welcome to a snack afterwards if she desires. That's not going to help at buffets or all-you-can-eat places, of course, since she'll be charged anyway. I wish you luck; I had picky eaters as well!

Yes it's a dinner ressie. I guess I'll have to investigate more on the kid options there and ohana. And I agree on the eating before hand.

Dinner at the Liberty Tree Tavern is pretty much Thanksgiving. It is a family style platter that also comes with pot roast and pork roast, in addition to turkey and stuffing and mashed potatoes. No separate kid options at dinner.

I don't know about the others, but Ohana will bring her chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, etc. Just ask and they will bring it gladly.

I'd switch Liberty Tree to lunch - the part of the party that wants the evening type foods can still can get them and she would have more options (like sliced apples, celery and carrot sticks, chicken noodle soup, ice cream sundaes, raspberry sorbet, and seasonal fruit on top of more kid meal options like pasta with marinara and sausage meals...or even a burger or fish and chips off the adult menu...)

Yeah...on thanksgiving she eats rolls lmao!

Thank you for that idea but we have BOG for lunch that day (which I'm sure will pose another eating issue...lol). I'm sure it will all work out

Ohana doesn't advertise a kids menu - even when you're there with young kids. But if you ask - they will bring out chicken nuggets and fries.

My DD is a very picky eater too. I've picked up a QS meal for her before a TS dinner and brought it into the restaurant with no problems. The problem with this, as someone pointed out, is that it can get cold. Reservations can run late. More often, we stop and get her some dinner first. I always feel silly with my DD at CRT. I tell them she's not eating anything, and they always try to convince me to order something for her since we have to pay anyway. She'll eat the dessert at least. So what I have is essentially a very expensive chance for her to interact with characters and eat dessert. I always try to direct her to Akershus instead (she'll eat the mac and cheese there) when we sit down as a family to discuss which ADRs we want, but she insists on CRT.

Awesome. Thanks for the real world experience. That is def my daughter. We are on free dining so not worried about losing money on the all you can eat locations. :-). I can spring for a counterservice dinner for her and yes she can cash in on a table service dessert.
